Elizabeth Emma Pring1,2

F, #1621, b. circa 1835
Last Edited16 Nov 2023
Birth*Elizabeth was born circa 1835.2
Marriage*Her first marriage was to Andrew J. Andereck, son of Isaac Andereck and Martha McClelland, on 3 December 1852 at Marion Co., Illinois. IL County Marriages & Mason give bride's name as Elizabeth Pring. Andereck Newsletter says Elizabeth E. Dickerson. Perhaps Dickerson really is her maiden name and this was a 2nd marriage. When he died Andrew left a widow and one baby less than a year old.1,3,2
Marriage*Her second marriage was to Thomas Keen on 19 June 1856 at Clay Co., Illinois. My preliminary research suggests their children were Millicent "Millie" (1857-1925, m. Thomas Alton Gentry 1877), and Harvey Pring Keen (1861-1950, m. Mary Rachel Lnu).4
Census1860*Elizabeth and Thomas appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Laclede Twp., Fayette Co., Illinois, enumerated 13 June 1860, as 45 yo farmer Thomas & 24 yo Elizabeth E Keen. The following children, likely from Thomas's prior marriage to Mary Lnu, were listed as living with them: 19 yo Elizabeth, 15 yo William, 11 yo Daniel, 10 yo James, and 8 yo Rachel Keen.
Thomas & Elizabeth's 2 yo daughter Millison (Millicent) was also listed as living with them.5

Lt. Alexander McClelland 1625
FatherLt Col. John B. McClelland3,4 b. 1734, d. 3 Jun 1782
MotherMartha Dale3,4 b. 1741, d. 21 Jan 1822
Last Edited12 Jan 2024
Birth*Alexander, son of Lt Col. John B. McClelland and Martha Dale, was born on 4 June 1761 in Fayette Co. (now Westmoreland), Pennsylvania. Randolph claims 1762.4,5,6
Milit-Service*Lt. Alexander McClelland served as a Lieutenant with Westmoreland County's "Rangers On The Frontiers" during the Revolutionary War circa 1780.7,5
Residence*Alexander resided in Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania, in 1795, farming 300 acres received in a grant for his military service.5
Marriage*He married Catherine Courson, daughter of Rev. Benjamin Courson and Fnu Lnu, in 1795 in Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. Young's deed gives Catherine's given name only. Randolph claims another child, Alexander (1824-1881) for this couple but Find A Grave makes it pretty clear he is the son of Isaac Josiah and Sarah Welch McClelland.3,6,2,5
Residence*Alexander and Catherine resided in Fayette Co., Pennsylvania, on 28 December 1801.3
Census1820*Alexander appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Bowling Green Twp., Licking Co., Ohio, with a household listed as 220101-10101 as >45 yo Alexander McClelland. A challenging enumeration. Alexander and Catherine are right on. Jonas and Henry likewise. The female 16-25 is likely Martha since Mary was already married. The son 16-25 could be Richard, Isaac or Samuel. None was yet married in 1820. The two males 10-15 are unknown. The female 0-9 is likely Rachel, though the bracket is one too low. A search of all Alexanders in Licking County shows this to be our man without a doubt.8
Death*Alexander died in 1824 in Licking Co., Ohio.7,6,4
Burial*He was buried at Newark Graveyard in Newark, Licking Co., Ohio.4
ResearchNoteResearch Note of 1 July 2012 re Martha's mother. Andereck Newsletter says Martha's mother was Rachel Lnu. No mention of a Catherine Coursen/Courson. Andereck cites land records which I MUST find. Find A Grave does not provide any citations other than the occasional headstone photo. They claim "calculated relationships" which they define as "information added to the related person's memorial". In other words, users can make these connections without proof.1,5

Birth*Philip, son of David Thomas Jr. and Ruth Rogers, was born circa 1756. Birthyear estimated with order of siblings arbitrary. This mother-child relationship implied in Loudoun Wills by the facts that, a) there is no evidence of David Jr. ever having had another wife, and, b) Ruth died just two years before David made his will, making a different mother for his children very unlikely.2
Estate-WillPhilip was named executor and an heir in the will of David Thomas Jr., his father, dated 23 June 1796 at Loudoun Co., Virginia.1,2

Birth*George, son of David Thomas Jr. and Ruth Rogers, was born circa 1758.
Estate-WillGeorge was named executor and an heir in the will of David Thomas Jr., his father, dated 23 June 1796 at Loudoun Co., Virginia.1,2
Death*George died after 23 June 1796.1
