Birth*George was born between 1618 and 1620 in England.2
Immigration*George likely immigrated to New Haven Colony, New England, circa 1639.3
Residence*George resided in Guilford Plantation, New Haven Colony, New England, on 14 August 1645, Bartlett writes that this is the 'earliest known record of George on this side of the Atlantic' in which he is a witness in a contempt of court case. Bartlett cites Gary Boyd Roberts, Genealogies of Connecticut Families, from the New England Historical & Genealogical Register, GPC, Baltimore, 1983, 102, and adds that a photocopy of the original handwritten Guilford court record is available from the Guilford Free Library, in Guilford, Connecticut.
Savage claims 1641.4,1
Marriage*He married Mary Cruttenden on 14 September 1650.1
Death*George died on 3 August 1669.1
SourceNote*Source Note of 9 September 2021 An important source is Gary A Bartlett's article in The Connecticut Nutmegger, Refuting Misinformation on George & Mary (Cruttenden) Bartlett of Guilford, Connecticut. See my source citation for more information.4

Jacob Andereck Sr.1,2

M, #2197, b. 28 September 1771, d. 15 December 1819
FatherJohann Friedrich (Frederick) Andereck Sr.2,3,4 b. 3 Feb 1737, d. fr 8 Sep 1772 - 15 Sep 1772
MotherAnna Catherine Butzeberger2,4 b. c 1742, d. a 1797
Last Edited27 Apr 2024
Birth*Jacob, son of Johann Friedrich (Frederick) Andereck Sr. and Anna Catherine Butzeberger, was born on 28 September 1771 in Dunmore (now Shenandoah) Co., Virginia Colony, New England. Dunmore County, Virginia Colony is now Shenandoah County, VA. Find A Grave's date is 11 March as is Mason's. No primary sources found. Mason writes that he changed the spelling of his surname from Andereck to Andrick.2,3,5
Estate-WillJacob was named an heir in the will of Johann Friedrich (Frederick) Andereck Sr., his father, dated 8 September 1772 at Dunmore Co., Virginia Colony, New England, receiving a one-third share with his brothers of two-thirds of his father's land while his mother lived, and the remaining one-third after her death.6,7
Marriage*He married Catherine "Caty" Smith, daughter of Adam Smith Sr. and Hannah J. Jackman, on 14 May 1793 in Shenandoah Co., Virginia. Select Marriages, Find A Grave & Mason all claim 7 May which was the bond date (see VA County Marriages for image). Andereck is very reliable so I'm sticking with his date of 14 May for the marriage. Chapman says Jacob's wife name was Rebecca.8,9,10,11,3,1
Estate-MiscHe received a third of his father's estate this date, sharing with his two brothers; The estate of Frederick Andereck Sr. was finally settled this date in Shenandoah County court.12
Move*Jacob and Catherine moved their residence from Shenanhoah County to Fairfield County, Ohio between 1804 and 1807. Newsletter claims Lydia was in on this move but her birthyear in Find A Grave suggests otherwise. Andereck's year is 1807, Mason's is 1804.13,14
Death*Jacob died on 15 December 1819 in Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio, at age 48. Andereck writes that he "was killed" but doesn't elaborate.3,15
Burial*He was buried at Middletown Cemetery in Canal Winchester, Franklin Co., Ohio. The Middletown Cemetery is on the farm of Delno Stotler in 1978.16,3
Estate-ProbateJacob's will was probated at Fairfield Co., Ohio, circa 1820. Mason writes, "Jacob's Heirs as listed in The Probate records of Fairfield County Ohio. minors-Daniel, Rebecca, Jacob, Rachel and Lydia Andricks. Adult children-Nancy, David and Catherine. Source: Patsy Kishler, Fairfield County Genealogical Society".
It's unclear why his other living children were not listed.14
ResearchNote*Research Note of 17 November 2023 re his children. I show only the ten children listed by Andereck on p. 53 (handwritten 63 in upper right). In support of these relationships Andereck cites "deed records, guardian bonds and the accounting of his [Jacob's] estate..."
Four other children are shown on p. A3. They are Susannah, Catherine, Mary and Nancy. So while Andereck apparently considers them the issue of Jacob & Catherine he has not provided any evidence in support. All four are in this dB but with no linked parents. Their ID nos. are Susannah 2658, Catherine 2659, Mary 2660, and Nancy 2661. All but Nancy have extensive additional research.17

Isaac Andereck1,2,3

M, #2199, b. 16 January 1797, d. 8 April 1850
FatherJacob Andereck Sr.4,1,3 b. 28 Sep 1771, d. 15 Dec 1819
MotherCatherine "Caty" Smith4,1 b. 1776, d. b 1823
Last Edited14 Dec 2023
Birth*Isaac, son of Jacob Andereck Sr. and Catherine "Caty" Smith, was born on 16 January 1797 in Shenandoah Co., Virginia. For the two parental relationships Andereck cites "deed records, guardian bonds and the accounting of his [Jacob's] estate..."
Chapman says only Virginia; Brinkerhoff claims Isaac died aged 50 years which is close but apparently not quite accurate. Find-A-Grave reads the headstone date as 16 Jan 1792. Photo of same is on the website. I can believe '92 or '97.5,6,3,7
MoveIsaac, Elizabeth, David and Hannah joined the move of his parents from Shenanhoah County to Fairfield County, Ohio between 1804 and 1807.8,4
Marriage*He married Martha McClelland, daughter of Lt. Alexander McClelland and Catherine Courson, on 27 August 1822 in Licking Co., Ohio. Two other children alleged by Mason & Ancestry's Agler Belston tree were Nathan Andereck (?-?, per Mason p. 20, allegedly the one who m. Elizabeth Robb 1855 in Marion, IL), and Martha Andereck (?-?, per Mason p. 20). I find nothing approaching real evidence for either one being the child of Isaac & Martha.9,10,1
Move*Isaac and Martha moved their residence from Licking County to Odin Twp., Illinois in 1829.1,3,7
Census1830*Isaac appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Marion Co., Illinois, with a household listed as 110001-101001 as 30-39 yo Isaac Andrick. All accounted for perfectly except the female age 10-14.11
Census1840Isaac appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Marion Co., Illinois, with a household listed as 0311001-0010001 as 40-49 yo Isaac Andrix. HQO has him indexed as Isaac Austin. This is a perfect match.12
Estate-Misc*Andereck writes, "When Isaac died he left the northern end of his farm to Alexander, the central part to Jacob, and the souther end to Andrew and William."13
Death*Isaac died on 8 April 1850 in Sandoval, Marion Co., Illinois, at age 53, of typhoid fever. Andereck says 8 Apr 1850 or 1851; since Martha is living as head of household with three of her sons in the 1850 census, it seems a safe bet that Isaac has died before the enumeration. Mortality Schedule confirms 1850. Chapman claims 1851. The headstone reads 1851 but that doesn't seem to make sense in light of the estate proceedings.14,6,3
Burial*He was buried at Andereck-McClelland Cemetery in Sandoval, Marion Co., Illinois, alongside his wife Martha.6,15
Estate-Probate*Isaac's will was probated at Marion Co., Illinois, on 6 May 1850.16
Estate-InventoryHis estate was inventoried on 1 June 1850 at Marion Co., Illinois. Andereck includes a complete listing of the inventory.17
BioNote*Biography Note: Isaac was born & educated in Virginia. He learned the trade of tanner from his father. Later moved to Licking Co, OH where he met and married Martha McClelland. In 1829 they moved to section 29, Odin Township, Marion Co., IL. He "gave some attention to farming, but spent the greater part of his time in stockraising, in which occupation he was more than ordiinarily successful and accumulated a handsome property, so that at his decease, which occurred in 1851, he was enabled to provide handsomely for all his children."
Hist of Marion & Clinton Counties also mentions Isaac settling on section 29. I think it's safe to say the Anderecks and McClellands knew each other in Licking Co, OH before moving to Marion Co, IL. Brinkerhoff says that 5 of the 6 children lived to maturity, and 3 of them died in the cholera outbreak of 1856. My guess is that John is the one who died young (missing 1850 Census) and that Jacob, William, and Andrew are the ones who died of cholera. This leaves Alexander and Catherine surviving beyond 1854, facts we know to be correct.
Church affiliation Baptist. There's more in Andereck to plough through.2

Albert Allen Hosltlaw1,2

M, #2220, b. 29 June 1877, d. 30 November 1944
Last Edited7 Nov 2023
Birth*Albert was born on 29 June 1877 in Sandoval Twp., Marion Co., Illinois, s/o James R Holstlaw & Mary McClelland. Holtslaw or Holstlaw? Multiple records support each spelling. Daughter Wanda's birth record lists his middle name as Alvin, not Allen.3,4,2
Marriage*He married Grace Myrtle Andereck, daughter of William Jacob Andereck and Sarah E. Meredith, in 1907 in Marion Co., Illinois. In their 1910 census enumeration they claim to have been married 3 years with 1 born & 1 living. That doesn't jive with other records claiming at least one and perhaps two other children had been born who died in infancy.
My preliminary research suggests their children were infant son Holstlaw (1909-1909), Thelma Holstlaw (1910-1995), Eunice A Holstlaw (1911-1982), Vernice Aubrey Holstlaw (1911-1964), Edna M Holstlaw (1913-1975), Wanda Rita Holstlaw (1915-1998), and Albert Holstlaw Jr. (c1920- , m. Ida Thedell Prather 1947).4,5,1
Census1910*Albert and Grace appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Sandoval Twp., Marion Co., Illinois, enumerated 30 April 1910, as 31 yo farmer Albert & 27 yo wife Grace Holsclaw. Their 0.3 yo daughter Thelma F Holsclaw was listed as living with them.5
Census1920Albert and Grace appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Sandoval Twp., Marion Co., Illinois, enumerated 2 January 1920, as 41 yo farmer Albert & 36 yo wife Grace Holstlaw. Their children 9 yo Thelma, 8 yo Eunice, 8 yo son Vernice, 6 yo Edna, 4 yo Wanda, and 0.1 yo Albert Holstlaw were listed as living with them. Grace's mother and five siblings live five doors below.6
Census1930Albert and Grace appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Sandoval Twp., Marion Co., Illinois, enumerated 1 May 1930, as 53 yo farmer Albert A & 46 yo wife Grace M Holtslaw. Their children 20 yo school teacher Thelma F, 18 yo Eunice A, 18 yo son Vernice A, 16 yo Edna M, 14 yo Wanda R, and 10 yo Albert Holtslaw Jr were listed as living with them.7
Census1940Albert and Grace appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Sandoval Twp., Marion Co., Illinois, enumerated 8 April 1940, as 62 yo coal miner Albert & 56 yo wife Grace Holtslaw. Their children 30 yo school teacher daughter Thelma, 28 yo oil field roughneck son Vernice, 26 yo seamstress daughter Edna, 24 yo beautician daughter Wanda R, and 20 yo oil well laborer son Albert Holtslaw Jr were listed as living with them.8
Death*Albert died on 30 November 1944 in Centralia, Marion Co., Illinois, at age 67.3,2
Burial*He was buried at Andereck-McClelland Cemetery in Sandoval, Marion Co., Illinois. Joint headstone photo available at Find A Grave.2
