Daniel W. Myers1

M, #727, b. 14 August 1840, d. 2 June 1892
Last Edited10 Mar 2023
Birth*Daniel was born on 14 August 1840 in Franklin Co., Kentucky. His headstone gives birth county as Allen, Kentucky, not Franklin. The 1870 Census confirms ca. 1841.2,3,4
Move*Daniel moved his residence from Franklin Co., Kentucky to Marion Co., Illinois before 14 August 1862.4
Milit-Service*Daniel W. Myers served as a Private with Cos. G & E, 111th Regiment, Illinois Infantry during the Civil War from 14 September 1862 to 6 June 1865. Joining at Middleton, Illinois, mustering in at Camp Marshall, Illinois, and out at Washington, DC.5,4,6
Marriage*He married Martha Ann Myers, daughter of George Myers and Catherine Andereck, on 12 September 1867 in Marion Co., Illinois. In the 1900 census Martha is enumerated as having been married at age 20.7,6
Census1870*Daniel and Martha appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Sandoval Twp., Marion Co., Illinois, enumerated 22 June 1870, as 29 yo farmer Daniel & 24 yo Martha Myers. Martha's 23 yo brother Isaac is living with them. Isaac is enumerated twice - here and with his father George.8
Census1880Daniel appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Grinell, Wallace Co., Kansas, as 40 yo herder Daniel Myers in the household of 24 yo farmer Mary Tomelson. I'm not certain this is our Daniel but age and birthstate are correct and his wife Martha is living with her father. Perhaps he headed west to make a few dollars. Daniel died in 1892 so we don't see him and Martha together again in the census record.9
Death*Daniel died on 2 June 1892 at at his home in Allen Co., Kansas, at age 51. In Will Myer's obit of 1918 it states that his sister Martha's 'companion' died in the spring of 1892.10,3,2,11
Burial*He was buried at Fairview Cemetery in Mildred, Allen Co., Kansas. Headstone photo is available at Find A Grave.2,3
Estate-AdminHis administration of estate began on 17 June 1892 at Allen Co., Kansas.12

Birth*Lillian, daughter of Samuel Wallace McKee and Minnie Maude Price, was born on 31 July 1902 in Texas. Lillian does not specifically name her mother in the Februrary letter; since her mother died in1907 and Lillian was born in 1902 one or the other of them missed both the 1900 and 1910 censuses; Obit confirms four children but does not name them.7,2
Census1910Lillian appeared on the 1910 Federal Census Fannin Co., Texas in the household of her father, Samuel Wallace McKee, as 7 yo daughter Lillian McKee.8
Church*Lillian was a member of the Dial Presbyterian Church in Fannin Co., Texas, in 1914.9
Census1920Lillian appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas in the household of her father, Samuel Wallace McKee, as 17 yo daughter Lillian McKee.10
Marriage*She married Arthur Vaughn Bullock in 1928 in Ralls, Crosby Co., Texas. It is interesting that in the 1930 census Lillian is listed as single and "Bullock" is a single roomer with her and her parents.7,1,2,11
Census1930Lillian appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Ralls, Crosby Co., Texas in the household of her parents, Samuel Wallace McKee and Olive Elizabeth Deviney, as 24 yo single daughter & public school teacher Lillian McKee.12
Census1940*Lillian and Arthur appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Lubbock, Lubbock Co., Texas, enumerated 10 April 1940, as 38 yo state director of student aid for NYA A. V. & 37 yo wife Lillian Bullock. Arthur's 'class of work' is wage or salaried worker in Government work'. Based on that I believe NYA was the National Youth Administration, originally part of the WPA, in 1939 becoming part of the Federal Security Agency.13
Census1950Lillian and Arthur appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas, at 826 Edgefield, enumerated 7 April 1950, as 48 yo washerita proprietor Arthur V & 48 yo wife Lillian M Bullock.14

DeathLillian McKee was the informant on her husband Arthur Vaughn Bullock's death certificate on 19 November 1980; of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.20,21,2
Move*Lillian moved her residence from Dallas to San Marcos, Hays County in March 1987.2
Death*Lillian died on 16 November 1996 in San Marcos, Hays Co., Texas, at age 94.22,7
Burial*She was buried at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas. Joint headstone photo available at Find A Grave.7

Maggie Troute1

F, #745, b. 1859, d. 27 November 1937
Last Edited18 Nov 2024
Birth*Maggie was born in 1859 in Sumner Co., Tennessee, d/o Patton Trout & Amanda Black. The 1880 census suggests 1861; 1885 says 1859; both say TN.2,3,4
Census1880Maggie appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Odin Twp., Marion Co., Illinois, as 19 yo helper Maggie Trout in the household of her future father-in-law George Myers; as 56 yo farmer George Myers.5
Marriage*She married Andrew Jack Myers, son of George Myers and Catherine Andereck, on 12 August 1880 in Odin Twp., Marion Co., Illinois. AJ was married & living w/ his father in the 1885 KS Census. Maggie's name is nearly illegible in the 1900 Census - could say May or Mary. In the 1930 census he claims to have been married at age 23, she at 20 so 1880 is the year that fits each fact ±1 year.6,7
CensusNF1Maggie appeared on the 1885 Kansas State Census of Ozark Twp., Allen Co., Kansas, in the household of George Myers, as 23 yo M A Myers.8
CensusNF1*Maggie and Andrew appeared on the 1895 Kansas state census of Osage Twp., Allen Co., Kansas, enumerated circa 1 March 1895, as 37 yo A J & 35 yo Maggie Myers. Their children Walter W. and Edith Amanda were listed as living with them.9
Census1900*Maggie and Andrew appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Osage Twp., Allen Co., Kansas, enumerated 2 June 1900, as 41 yo farmer A J & 39 yo wife Mag Myers. Their children Walter W. and Edith Amanda were listed as living with them, along with Andrew's 76 yo widowed father George. Brother Isaac's enumeration begins on the previous page and ends at top of Andrew's.10
Census1910Maggie and Andrew appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Baker, Crawford Co., Kansas, enumerated 7 May 1910, as 52 yo night watchman A J & 49 yo wife Maggie Meyrs. Their children Edith Amanda, May Della and Walter W. were listed as living with them, as well as Edith's 27 yo husband Oscar Raines , their 0.1 yo daughter Nellie Genevieve Raines, Mame's husband 35 yo Ellzey and 10 yo son Loyed Forest Daugherty, and Walter's 18 yo wife Escey Myers. There are three families in this household but only one family (AJ & Maggie) is numbered. The heads were AJ & Maggie, Ellzey & Mame Daugherty, and Walter & Escey Myrs.
