Marriage*	His first marriage was to Annie Parks Young on 26 March 1905. My preliminary research suggests their children were Mary Velma (1905-1967, m1 Robert L Gregory, m2 Charles H Brockway), and Robert Lee Burcham (1908-1998). Joe marrying Emma Tayes before Annie's death suggests this marriage ended in divorce. In Annie's 1940 census enumeration w/ son Robert she was originally marked M(arried) but someone has scratched out the M and overwritten what appears to be D.2,3

Birth*	William, son of Frederick Helsley and Elizabeth Andrick, was born circa 1830 in Virginia. Find A Grave provides no headstone photo to corroborate the date given of 04 Jul 1826. Of the five censuses in which we find William only the 1870 suggests 1826. The others all point toward 1830.2,3
Census1830	William is probably the male under age 5 listed in the household of his father, Frederick Helsley, in the 1830 Federal Census of Western Dist., Shenandoah Co., Virginia.4
Census1840	William is probably the male age 5 to 9 listed in the household of his father, Frederick Helsley, in the 1840 Federal Census of Shenandoah Co., Virginia, though this is likely one bracket too young by a year or so.5

Mary J Sine 1884), Joseph M (1865-1866) and Charles Edward Helsley (1874-1936, m. Hannah F. Fadely 1893).      There's a contradictory article in the 26 Apr 1907 issue of Shenandoah Herald that reads in part, W. P. Helsley was called to Conicsville on Wednesday by the death of his mother Mrs. Phoebe Helsley... None of the children I've listed above has the initials W P. Perhaps it was a typo and really meant George P Helsley. At any rate I've found no other evidence for a son W. P. Helsley.      In her Confederate widow's pension app Phoebe claimed they were married 16 Jun 1851 near Conicsville..1,7,8
