John appears to be the first in the family to change surname spelling from Dunkerson to Dunkeson. FSTrees (entry for John Benton Dunkeson (1837-1894), ID no. 2QBB-68Q) shows a middle name without citation.2,1

Marriage*	He married Eliza Jane Garrison before 13 December 1858, date based on calculated birthdate of their first child Thomas. FSTrees (entry for John Benton Dunkeson (1837-1894), ID no. 2QBB-68Q) claims a son John C Dunkeseon (1861-1936), ID no. KC6D-TNW, without citation. I find no evidence for this person being John & Eliza's child in the censuses. There is a 9 yo John C Dunkerson in the 1870 census in the home of Wm R Piburn family, Union, Harrison, MO, who may be the person referenced by FSTrees. John C has a Find A Grave memorial (14498299) which claims he's s/o John & Eliza, citing death certificate, but the death certificate shows both parents unknown.3,4

Milit-Service*	John Benton Dunkeson served with the Missouri Militia. Eliza's widow's pension card lists John's service as 'Pt. Co. E, 3", P.E. Mo. Mil.' Wikipedia's article Missouri State Militia (Union) doesn't clear up what the abbreviation 'P.E.' means. The 3rd Regiment was a cavalry unit. His service record in Pension Files reads 'E, 3 Pro. En Mo. Mil'. No luck tracking down these abbreviations yet either.5,6

Birth*	James, son of Thomas Dunkerson and Sarah Catherine Palmer, was born on 17 February 1842 in Missouri.3,1
Census1850	James appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 27, Harrison Co., Missouri in the household of his parents, Thomas Dunkerson and Sarah Catherine Palmer, as 8 yo James Dunkinson.1
Census1860	James appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Union Twp., Harrison Co., Missouri in the household of his mother, Sarah Catherine Palmer, as 18 yo James Dunkerson.4
Milit-Service*	James S. Dunkerson served with Co. H, 13th Missouri Cavalry during the Civil War circa 1863. This per Find A Grave. I find no corresponding record in the NPS database. There we find two men named James S. Dunkerson. One as private with Co. E, 3rd Regt., Missouri State Millitia Cavalry (1st Organization). The other as private with Co. M, 6th Regt., MO State Militia Cavalry. Those were both Union. On the Confederate side I find three entries for 13th Regiment, Missouri Cavalry State Guard. There's no Dunkerson, or anything close, in any of the three. Subject requires additional research.3
Death*	James died on 17 August 1864 at age 22.3
Burial*	He was buried at Allen Cemetery in Eagleville, Harrison Co., Missouri. Headstone photo of sorts is available at Find A Grave.3

Birth*	Eliza, daughter of Phillip Siex and Barbara Andereck, was born on 27 August 1828. Mason claims 1829 but the headstone clearly reads 1828.2,1
Marriage*	Her first marriage was to Fnu Ross circa 1848, date based on Eliza's 2 yo daughter Sarah E Ross in the 1850 census. My preliminary research suggests their only child was Sarah Ellen Ross (1848-1926, m. Isaiah Emswiller c1868). Find A Grave has memorials for the following children of Sarah Ellen & Isaiah : Bertie Ellen, Hattie Arbula, Laura E B, L Lee, Henry O, Vernie H and Charles Edward Emswiller.3
Census1850	Eliza appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 58, Shenandoah Co., Virginia in the household of her mother, Barbara Andereck, as 21 yo Elizabeth Ross.3
Marriage*	Her second marriage was to Mordecai Dellinger circa 1852. My preliminary research suggests their children were Barbara Ann (1852-1878, m. John L Helsley c1874), Philip William (1855-1954, m. Lydia Aice McQuay 1884), George Edward (1857-1936, m. Mary Virginia Ross c1881) and Paul Jacob Dellinger (1860-1934, m. Emma F Mooney 1879).2
Marriage*	Her third marriage was to William Dellinger in 1867. My preliminary research suggests their children were James C (1868-1870), Caleb Franklin (1870-1956, m. Mary Catherine Coffman 1891) and Mary Susan Dellinger (1872-1960, m. Jacob Peter Ryman c1897). William Dellinger was Eliza's m1 Mordecai Dellinger's older brother.2
Census1870*	Eliza and William appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Ashby, Shenandoah Co., Virginia, enumerated 19 July 1870, as 42 yo farmer William & 42 yo Eliza A Dellinger, as well as Eliza's 75 yo mother Barbara Six. Their children 17 yo Barbara A, 15 yo Philip W, 13 yo George E, 10 yo Paul J , 2 yo James C and 0.1 yo unnamed Dellinger were listed as living with them.4
Census1880	Eliza and William appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Ashby, Shenandoah Co., Virginia, enumerated 18 June 1880, as 52 yo farmer William & 51 yo Eliza A Delinger. Their children 10 yo Caleb F and 8 yo Mary Susan Dellinger were listed as living with them, as well as 25 yo step-son farmer Philip W Dellinger.5
Census1900*	Eliza appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Ashby, Shenandoah Co., Virginia, enumerated 9 June 1900, as 71 yo widow Liza A Dellinger. Her 25 yo grandson William Helsley (s/o her daughter Barbara Ann & John L Helsley) was listed as living with her. It's odd that Eliza shows 1 born with 0 living.6
Death*	Eliza died on 30 April 1905 in Conicville, Shenandoah Co., Virginia, at age 76.2,7,1
Burial*	She was buried on 2 May 1905 at Christ Reformed Church Cemetery in Conicville, Shenandoah Co., Virginia. Find A Grave provides headstone photo.7,2

Marriage*	He married Mary Ann Palmer, daughter of William Palmer and Mary Allison "Polly" Means, before 1844, date based on birthyear of eldest child in the 1850 census.2
Census1850*	Absalom and Mary appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Center Twp., Buchanan Co., Missouri, enumerated 7 November 1850, as 33 yo Absalom & 25 yo Mary Davis. Their children Jacob, William and Samuel were listed as living with them. Mary's birthstate of KY is correct. Her parents and several siblings are also in Buchanan County.1

Birth*	Peter was born circa 1825. There's a Find A Grave memorial for a Peter I Davis (1793-1867), memorial no 151130168, who died in Humboldt County. His death year lines up well with Elvira's m3 in 1868, but his birth year is way off any expected value. The bio text says his middle initial is really L, not I. It's easy to imagine someone reading it as J.1,2

Birth*	Sarah was born on 27 September 1831 in Vermilion Co., Illinois. Surname is Hammond on daughter Margaret's death certificate.      Headstone at Find A Grave reads 27 Sep 1831 for Mrs. Sarah I. Hanan Palmer. Means says same in 1832. We'll go with the headstone for now. Middle name likely Iamba.3,1,2,4
Marriage*	She married Samuel Palmer, son of William Palmer and Mary Allison "Polly" Means, on 12 December 1850 in Buchanan Co., Missouri. My preliminary research suggests their children were Margaret Elvira (), John (), Martha Eleanor (), Edward Talbert (), and William Alexander Palmer (). Find A Grave's marriage date is 22 Dec. I'm sticking with Means date of 12 Dec until a better source turns up.5,2
Census1860*	Sarah and Samuel appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Table Bluff Twp., Humboldt Co., California, enumerated 20 June 1860, as 30 yo farmer Samuel & 23 yo Sarah Palmer. Their children Margaret Elvira, John, Martha Eleanor and Edward Talbert were listed as living with them. Sam's parents live next door above, his sister Elvira and her husband next door below.6
Census1870	Sarah and Samuel appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Table Bluff Twp., Humboldt Co., California, enumerated 25 July 1870, as 39 yo Saml & 38 yo Sarah Patmer. Their children John, Martha Eleanor, Edward Talbert and William Alexander were listed as living with them. Sam's occupation is farmer.7
Marr-Divorce*	Sarah was divorced from Samuel Palmer circa 1880. In the 1880 census Sam & Sarah are enumerated separately. Sarah's is dated 10 June and she's marked married. Sam's is dated 14 June and he's marked divorced.8
Census1880*	Sarah appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Rohnerville, Humboldt Co., California, enumerated 10 June 1880, as 46 yo married Sarah Palmer. Her children Edward Talbert and William Alexander were listed as living with her.9

Marriage*	Their second marriage was to James Means Palmer, son of William Palmer and Mary Allison "Polly" Means, on 20 January 1881 at Humboldt Co., California. The CA marriage record reads, He was married to Frances McCoy who is dead. She was married to Chas Becker who is living. His parents are natives of KY and hers of MO.3,1

Marriage*	She married James Means Palmer, son of William Palmer and Mary Allison "Polly" Means, on 14 November 1870 in Humboldt Co., California. My preliminary research suggests their only child was Minnie May Palmer (1871-1922). FSTrees claims two other sons, Hector (1873-1873) and LaForest Palmer (1874-1874). However the source cited (A Guideline to Humboldt County Births Before 1900, Compiled by Marilyn Keach Milota, Humboldt County Genealogical Society, Eureka, CA March 1999, Family History Library, 35 N West Temple Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84150 USA, Page number: Pg. 622) does not exist in the FHL catalog on 29 May 2019, nor can I find it online. Neither can I find Find A Grave memorials for these two boys.1,2
