Joseph Edmund Edwards1

M, #9241, b. 26 December 1842
Last Edited21 Sep 2022
Birth*Joseph was born on 26 December 1842 in Simpson Co., Kentucky.2
Marriage*He married Alice B. Arbuckle, daughter of Alexander W. Arbuckle and Arabella Torian, before 1866, date based on birthyear of eldest child listed by Find A Grave. The KY Births record is for unnamed male born 1874, very probably son John E Edwards. My preliminary research suggests their children were Susan Elizabeth (1866-1904), Ada (1868- ), Eddie Franklin (1872-1889), John Elbert Sr (1874-1918, m. Lillian L Prescott), and Dr. Claude Welch Edwards (1877-1951, m. Edna Parke). I've found Find A Grave memorials for all but Ada.1,3
Census1870*Joseph and Alice appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Cadiz, Trigg Co., Kentucky, enumerated 25 August 1870, as 27 yo Joseph E & 21 yo Alis B Edwards. Their children 4 yo Susan E and 1 yo Ader Edwards were listed as living with them. Joseph is a hotel keeper.4
Census1880Joseph and Alice appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Cadiz, Trigg Co., Kentucky, enumerated 23 June 1880, as 37 yo J E & 29 yo Allice Edwards. Their children 14 yo Elizabeth, 11 yo Ada, 8 yo Eddie, 5 yo John, and 3 yo Claud Edwards were listed as living with them. Joseph is now a machine agent.5
Census1900Joseph and Alice appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Cadiz, Trigg Co., Kentucky, enumerated 26 June 1900, as 57 yo Joseph E & 51 yo Alice B Edwards. Their 34 yo daughter Lizzie Edwards was listed as living with them. Joseph is now a farmer.6
Burial*He was buried at East End Cemetery in Cadiz, Trigg Co., Kentucky. Joint headstone photo w/o date of death available at Find A Grave.2

Death*Mary died on 20 August 1904 in Mayfield, Graves Co., Kentucky, at age 50. Trees' date is ca 1895.1

Richard A. White1

M, #9251, b. February 1842, d. 1921
Last Edited15 Oct 2022
Birth*Richard was born in February 1842 in Ireland. Means claims Richard was born 1841 in Indiana but the censuses are consistently Ireland.2,3
Marriage*He married Margaret Elvira Palmer, daughter of Samuel Palmer and Sarah "Amby" Hanan, on 29 December 1867 in Humboldt Co., California. My preliminary research suggests their children were Mary E (c1871-c1960, perhaps m. Wm B La Mar, divorced by 1930) and Ralph M White (1874-1947). The 1900 census confirms 2 born with 2 living.1,4,5
Census1870*Richard and Margaret appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Eel River Twp., Humboldt Co., California, enumerated 22 July 1870, as 27 yo Richard & 18 yo Maggie E White. There's a 12 yo Edward Palmer, likely Maggie's brother who is enumerated twice - once as an 11 yo with his parents, once as a 12 yo with his sister. I've got no one else who fits the bill. He's certainly not her uncle b. 1832.6
Census1900Richard and Margaret appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Walla Walla, Walla Walla Co., Washington, enumerated 7 June 1900, as 57 yo Richard A & 48 yo Maggie E White.2
Census1910Richard and Margaret appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Walla Walla, Walla Walla Co., Washington, enumerated 16 April 1910, as 67 yo Richard & 58 yo Margret White. Their divorced 39 yo daughter Mary C White was listed as living with them.7
Census1920Richard and Margaret appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Walla Walla, Walla Walla Co., Washington, enumerated circa 19 January 1920, as 78 yo Richard & 68 yo Margaret White. This enumeration is a mess. It's on a 'Supplement Sheet Filed in Census Office 4/134/20'. Richard & Margaret's lines are scratched out. The explanatory note written in left margin is illegible. There are no family numbers. Richard is HOH and Margaret is wife. There are five lodgers living with them.8
Death*Richard died in 1921 in Oregon.3

Edmond B. McMurtry1

M, #9254, b. circa 1864
Last Edited8 Oct 2022
Birth*Edmond was born circa 1864 in California. Note FSTrees calls him Edward B McMurtry (1863-1894), born Ireland, with son Amos. This death date doesn't work at all with the 1930 census showing Amos with father Edmond in the house. Two censuses confirm CA/KY,IA for Edmond's and parents' birthstates. Ireland is not in the mix nor does the cited source show Ireland.1
Marriage*He married Minnie May Palmer, daughter of James Means Palmer and Frances "Fannie" McCoy, on 20 August 1890 in Humboldt Co., California. Given that Edmond is in son Amos' house in the 1930 census it seems safe to say this marriage ended in divorce sometime between 1890-1895.1
CensusLead*The 1900 census listed a a 36 yo, who may be this person, as head of household at Lagao (now Gen'l Santos City), The Philippines. Edmund McMurtyr.2
Census1930*Edmond appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Union Twp., Humboldt Co., California, as 65 yo father Edmund B McMurtry in the household of his son 38 yo Amos McMurtry. Edmond again shows CA/KY/IA for the three birthstates.3

Last Edited13 Oct 2022
Birth*Annie was born in 1882 in Henry Co., Missouri, d/o Oglesby Love Young & Charlotte Virginia Bird.1,3
Marriage*She married Joe Gray Burcham, son of Joseph B. Burcham and Mary Emily "Mollie" Palmer, on 26 March 1905. My preliminary research suggests their children were Mary Velma (1905-1967, m1 Robert L Gregory, m2 Charles H Brockway), and Robert Lee Burcham (1908-1998).
Joe marrying Emma Tayes before Annie's death suggests this marriage ended in divorce. In Annie's 1940 census enumeration w/ son Robert she was originally marked M(arried) but someone has scratched out the M and overwritten what appears to be D.2,4
Census1910*Annie and Joe appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Windsor Twp., Henry Co., Missouri, enumerated 4 May 1910, as 22 yo Joseph G & 26 yo Annie P Burcham. Their children 4 yo Mary V and 2 yo Robert L Burcham were listed as living with them.5
Census1920Annie and Joe appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Windsor Twp., Henry Co., Missouri, enumerated 10 February 1920, as 34 yo Joe Gray & 36 yo Anna P Burchan. Their children 14 yo Mary Velma and 11 yo Robert L Burcham were listed as living with them.3
