Judge Jacob Andrick1,2
M, #6545, b. 21 August 1782, d. 23 January 1864
Birth* | Jacob, son of Christian Andrick and Elizabeth Lnu, was born on 21 August 1782 in Shenandoah Co., Virginia, aka Judge Jacob. Find A Grave's month is August and headstone confirms. Mason says October.3,4 |
Estate-Will | Jacob was named executor and an heir in the will of Christian Andrick, his father, dated 24 December 1814 at Greenbrier Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), receiving a one-third share of all personal & real estate with his brothers Christian and Frederick, less amounts to be paid to his sisters.5,6 |
Estate-Probate | Jacob was listed as a devisee in Christian Andrick's will at Greenbrier Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), on 27 February 1816, and as a son; His children Christian, Jacob, Frederick, Martha Cook, Mary Sulser, Nancy Nickle and Elizabeth Stars were listed as devisees.7,5 |
Marriage* | His first marriage was to Clarissa "Clary" Buffenbarger on 1 May 1819 at Madison Co., Ohio. I've seen nothing that convinces me the Jacob who married Clary is our Jacob so I'd take this marriage with a grain of salt.8 |
Marriage* | His second marriage was to Mada Smith on 16 January 1828 at Vermillion Co., Indiana. My preliminary research suggests their children were Lillis (1831-1900), Davis S. (1837-1860), Johh C. (1839-1866) and Henrietta (1852-1875) Andrick.9,10,11 |
Census1830* | Jacob appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Vermillion Co., Indiana, with a household listed as 001101-10101 as 30-39 yo Jacob Andrick. His wife Mada is likely the 20-29 yo female. The rest of the enumeration has nothing to do with this family as currently known. E.g. the male 15-19 yo is too young to be one of Jacob's brothers and too old to have been one of his sons. Similar issues with the others. I have doubts whether this is our Jacob at all.12 |
Census1840 | Jacob appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Green Co., Wisconsin Territory, with a household listed as 20001201-010101001 as 50-59 yo Jacob Andrix. His wife Mada is likely the female 30-39 yo, daughter Jennie the 15-19 yo female, daughter Lillie the 5-9 yo female, sons David and John the under 5 yo males. Currently unidentified are the female 60-69 yo, the two males 30-39 yo, and the male 20-29 yo. Jacob's sister Mary is one guess for the elder female. A Christopher Andrick lives next door. This is likely Jacob's brother.13 |
Census1850* | Jacob and Mada appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Clarno, Green Co., Wisconsin, enumerated 18 July 1850, as 67 yo farmer Jacob & 43 yo Mada Andrick. Their children Lillis "Lillie', David Smith and John Clark were listed as living with them, as well as Mada's mother 72 yo Lillis Smith.14 |
Census1860 | Jacob and Mada appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Bourbon Co., Kansas Territory, enumerated 31 August 1860, as 77 yo farmer Jacob & 52 yo housewife Mada Andrick. Their children David Smith, John Clark and Henrietta were listed as living with them, as well as one farm laborer.15 |
Death* | Jacob died on 23 January 1864 in Bourbon Co., Kansas, at age 81. Mason says 23 Jan 1884 aged 101 years. His headstone reads 23 Jan 1864.10,1 |
Burial* | He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott, Bourbon Co., Kansas. Headstone photo available at Find A Grave.10,1 |

Christian Christopher Andrick1
M, #6549, b. circa 1775, d. after 1840
Birth* | Christian, son of Christian Andrick and Elizabeth Lnu, was born circa 1775 in Shenandoah Co., Virginia Colony, New England.1 |
Estate-Will | Christian was named an heir in the will of Christian Andrick, his father, dated 24 December 1814 at Greenbrier Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), receiving a one-third share of all personal & real estate with his brothers Jacob and Frederick, less amounts to be paid to his sisters.2,3 |

Marriage* | He married Polly Brunson on 30 August 1818 in Ross Co., Ohio. My preliminary research suggests their children may have included James B (1829- ) and John H (1834- ) Andrick.5,6 |
Death* | Christian died after 1840, probably in Green County, Wisconsin.1 |
Census1840 | Christian perhaps appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Green Co., Wisconsin Territory, as a neighbor of his brother Judge Jacob Andrick.7 |
ResearchNote* | Research Note of 6 May 2024 re dearth 'o sources. Nothing found even remotely primary. The few secondary sources just cite other secondary sources. Alleged 1820-40 censuses may be this couple but the enumerations are so far off as to make them highly suspect. |

Frederick Andrick1
M, #6550, b. 1786, d. 1860
Birth* | Frederick, son of Christian Andrick and Elizabeth Lnu, was born in 1786 in Shenandoah Co., Virginia.1,2 |
Marriage* | He married Mary "Polly" Stotts before 1811, date based on birthyear of eldest child listed by Mason. Barbara Andereck1
F, #6554, b. 1796
Birth* | Barbara, daughter of Johann Friederich Andereck Jr. and Elizabeth Norton, was born in 1796.1 |
Census1810 | Barbara is probably the female age 10 to 15 listed in the household of her father, Johann Friederich Andereck Jr., in the 1810 Federal Census of Shenandoah Co., Virginia.2 |
Census1820 | Barbara is probably the female age 16 to 25 listed in the household of her father, Johann Friederich Andereck Jr., in the 1820 Federal Census of Union Forge, Shenandoah Co., Virginia.3 |
Marriage* | She married Phillip Siex on 17 April 1821 in Shenandoah Co., Virginia.4,5,6 |
Estate-Will | Barbara was named an heir in the will of Johann Friederich Andereck Jr., her father, dated 18 February 1826 at Shenandoah Co., Virginia.6 |
Census1840* | Barbara appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Shenandoah Co., Virginia, with a household listed as 00001-002200101 as 40-49 yo Barbara Six. Her mother Elizabeth Norton Andereck is likely the 60-69 yo female. Daughters Sarah & Mary the two females 15-19 yo, daughters Elizabeth & Eliza the two females 10-14 yo. The 20-29 yo male is unidentified. Enumerated just below Barbara is Peter Six (200001-112001), likely a brother-in-law.7 |
Census1850 | Barbara Andereck appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 58, Shenandoah Co., Virginia, enumerated 24 September 1850, as 54 yo Barbara Six. Her daughters Sarah Frances, Mary, Elizabeth Catherine and Eliza Ann were listed as living with her, as well as Eliza's 2 yo daughter Sarah E Ross. In this census suspected brother-in-law 50 yo wagonmaker Peter Six and family live directly above Barbara.8 |
Census1860 | Barbara appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Dist. 68, Wythe Co., Virginia, enumerated 21 June 1860, as 69 yo Barbra Six. Next door is 38 yo Samuel Six and family, relationship if any unknown. I'm not 100% convinced this is our Barbara principally because she's reliably in Shenandoah County in the bracketing censuses - 1850 & 1870.9 |
Census1870 | Barbara appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Ashby, Shenandoah Co., Virginia, as 75 yo Barbara Six in the household of her son-in-law & daughter William Dellinger and Eliza Ann Six; as 42 yo farmer William & 42 yo Eliza A Dellinger.10 |

Zachariah Cook1
M, #6564, b. 16 February 1750, d. 30 November 1846
Birth* | Zachariah was born on 16 February 1750, perhaps s/o Valentine Cook & Anna Susannah Baughman. There's a discrepancy between Mason and Find A Grave . Mason says he was born 10 Jan 1761 in Langelsheim, Goslar, Lower Saxony, Germany. Find A Grave says, and headstone concurs, 16 Feb 1750 in Stauton, Virginia (no headstone support for location). His Revolutionary War pension record shows him as 83 yo in 1835 which works out to a birthyear range of 1751-52. The Kathy Bruner Jones tree at Ancestry claims his name before it was Anglicized was Ziriakus Koch. Six sources are cited for his birth but none of them support this claim. This tree also shows his alleged parents, again without any evidentiary support.2,3,1 |
ResearchNote | Research Note of 2 May 2024 re his chldren and a possible marriage before Matty. The Notes section at the end of Zach's Revolutionary War pension application reads in part, Another document states that Cook died in Pike County on 30 Jan 1846 leaving John Cook, Elizabeth Cook, Mary Burgess, Nancy Gall, Margaret Zimmerman, Susan Zimmerman, and Sarah Butler his only children. I have those seven children entered into the database. Nancy, Susan and Sarah have Find A Grave memorials so their birth and death dates are reasonably well established. That all seven died after the pension app of 1846 is clear. Birthyears for Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, and John have been elusive. Ancestry's Kathy Bruner Jones tree alleges birthyears of 1779, 1781, 1789, and 1790 respectively. If true then Elizabeth, Mary, and Margaret would have had a different mother than Margaret Cook. John being born in 1790, the same year Zach & Margaret were married is plausible. Zach was 40 yo when he married Margaret so an earlier marriage is not only believable but likely. Based on these tidbits I've entered an m1 for Zach.4 |
Marriage* | His first marriage was to Fnu Lnu before 1790. See ResearchNote of 02 May 2024.4 |
Milit-Service* | Zachariah Cook served as a private with Virginia line during the American Revolutionary War between 1781 and 1783. VA Soldiers of 1776 has the following in the Comments section: Land Office, State of Kentucky. The original warrant No. 4144 issued to Land Office of Virginia to Zachariah Cook for 100 acres for service as a soldier in the Va. Contl. Line for three years; Warrant issued 13 Apl., 1786. Has not been located in Kentucky. Signed, John Foster, Register; Zachariah Cook is entitled to the proportion of land allowed a Private of the Contl. Line for 3 years. Council Chamber, Apl. 11, 1786. Patrick Henry, Gov. Attest, T. Meri-weather; A warrant for 100 acres issued 13 Apl., 1786. Wm. Selder Regr. Va. Land Off; Greenbrier Co. 24 May, 1832. Zachariah Cook personally appeared before J. of P. and made oath that warrant 4144 is [p.468] ; lost or mislaid, that it was not sold or transferred by him. Signed, David Hanna. Greenbrier Co. Court, Nov. Term, 1832. The above affidavit was presented in Court and it is ordered certified that the said Zachariah Cook is entitled to renewal of his warrant. Copy, teste, John Matthews, Clerk. His service pension began on 16 Jul 1830 at Greenbrier Co., Virginia. His annual allowance was $96. Bockstruck has a Zachariah Cook who served with Capt. William Christian's company of militia from 06 Apr 1764 to 06 Sep 1764; serving for 81 days. Zach would have been only 14 yo so this record is likely for someone else. These dates are after the French & Indian War but before the American Revolutionary War.5,3,6,7,8 |
Marriage* | His second marriage was to Martha "Matty" Andrick, daughter of Christian Andrick and Elizabeth Lnu, circa 19 January 1790 at Greenbrier Co., Virginia (now West Virginia). VA Compiled says 19 Feb 1790, WV Index 19 Jan 1790, Mason says 17 Jan 1790. My guess is 17 Jan was banns, 19 Jan was the marriage.9,10,1 |
Census1820* | Zachariah appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Greenbrier Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), with a household listed as 000012-02213 as 45+ yo Zachariah Cook. Matty likely one of the three females 45+ yo, son John the male 26-44 yo, daughters Nancy & Susan the two females 16-25 yo, daughter Sarah one of the two 10-15 yo females. Unaccounted for are one male 45+, two females 45+, one female 26-44, and one female 10-15 yo. Pretty sad overall but those that fit do so well. Next door above is 45+ yo John Cook Sr - perhaps Zac's father or brother.11 |
Census1830 | Zachariah appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Greenbrier Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), with a household listed as 0000000001-10101001 as 70-79 yo Zachariah Cook. Pretty weak fit. The female 20-29 yo could be daughter Sarah. Susan and Zimmerman were married the following year, but so were Sally & Butler.12 |
Census1840 | Zachariah appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Pike Co., Ohio, with a household listed as 100000000001-01100001001 as 90-99 yo Zachariah Cook. His wife Matty likely the female 80-89 yo. The others are anyone's guess.13 |
Death* | Zachariah died on 30 November 1846 in Beaver, Pike Co., Ohio, at age 96. Mason says 30 Jan but the headstone clearly says 30 Nov.6,2,1 |
Burial* | He was buried at Beaver Union Cemetery in Beaver, Pike Co., Ohio. Find A Grave provides headstone photo.7,14,1 |
ResearchNote* | Research Note of 30 April 2024 re multiple Zachs. A search for Zachariah in Ancestry pulls up a lot of good sources, but also censuses for 1850-1880 in Ohio and adjacent states. Clearly there were at least two of this name and perhaps more. |

Birth* | Mary was born in 1791.1 |
Marriage* | She married Frederick Andrick, son of Christian Andrick and Elizabeth Lnu, before 1811, date based on birthyear of eldest child listed by Mason. My preliminary research suggests their children were John William, Sr., Jacob, Christopher, Elizabeth, Joseph and Harriett Andrix. Note Frederick & Mary's descendants changed the surname spelling to Andrix. Mason says he is unsure of the exact timeframe for the switch.1 |

Peter Seix1,2
M, #6569, b. 1800
Birth* | Peter was born in 1800. Mason spells his surname Six.2 |
Marriage* | He married Sara Andereck, daughter of Johann Friederich Andereck Jr. and Elizabeth Norton, on 7 August 1826 in Shenandoah Co., Virginia.3,2 |
Census1840* | Peter appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Shenandoah Co., Virginia, with a household listed as 200001-112001 as 30-39 yo Peter Six. His wife Sara is likely the female 30-39 yo. The children listed, as best I can tell, were 10-14 yo Isabella, 5-9 yo Elenora, <5 yo Edward, Barbara A and John S Six. The other 10-14 yo female is unknown. Sara's widowed sister Barbara Siex and her family live next door above.1 |
Census1850* | Peter and Sara appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 58, Shenandoah Co., Virginia, enumerated 24 September 1850, as 50 yo wagonmaker Peter & 45 yo Sarah Six. Their children Isabella, Elenora, John S., Edward, Mary E. and Rebecca Catherine "Becky" were listed as living with them. Sara's widowed sister 54 yo Barbara Siex and family live next door below.4 |
Census1860 | Peter appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Orkney Springs Dist., Shenandoah Co., Virginia, enumerated 31 August 1860, as 60 yo farmer Peter Six. His children Edward, Mary E. and Rebecca Catherine "Becky" were listed as living with him. There's an odd handwritten note after Rebecca's entry on p. 734 which reads, "For other members of this family see top of page 651." Page 651 is in the Mount Clifton District. First line is an entry for 21 yo wagonmaker Edward Six. Here there's another handwritten note reading, "For other members of this family see bottom of page 734." Go figure. Peter's daughter Isabella and husband David Ross and family live three doors above.5 |
Census1860 | Peter appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Orkney Springs Dist., Shenandoah Co., Virginia, as a neighbor of his son-in-law & daughter David Ross and Isabella Seix.6 |
