Their children were William Thomas, Rosalie C., and Kathryn Vandegrift, plus Harry H., Mrs. Frank M. Beale, Mrs. Chas. H. Finch. These names of children living in 1921 per Robert's obit in Find A Grave. Two grandchildren also mentioned, Archie A. stationed at Port au Prince, Haiti, and Mrs. Hunter B. Mann (Constance A.) He also left one sister, Mrs. Susan H. Durrett.3,1

Rebecca Legles or Legler; he is enumerated as Davis in both the 1870 & 1880 censuses), Mary Catherine "Mollie" (1864-1953, never married), Sarah Elizabeth (1866-1957, m. William E Carroll 1893), William David (1868-1955, m1 Lillie V Hoover 1891, m2 Sarah Elizabeth Litten 1905), Lydia Ellen (1871-1956, m. William Robert Bowman 1896), Samuel Arthur (1874-1934, m. Vergie Lawrence Tisinger 1898) and Annie Laura Stoner (1877-1962, m. Erasmus Eugene Bowman 1899). Her death notice in DC's Evening Star confirms she was survived by 3 sons & 4 daughters.3,4,5

Birth*	Harriet was born in 1889. There are three entries in Find A Grave for a Harriet M. Vandegrift, but none are this person or, if so, she has two headstones. I'm using data from the joint headstone with husband Arthur Jay.2
Marriage*	She married Arthur Jay Vandegrift, son of John Barr Vandegrift and Angeline Cleaver "Angie" Eaton, on 4 September 1928 in Delaware. In the 1930 census Arthur is living with his mother, marked married 2 years prior, but no sign of wife Harriet. No issue per King.3,4,5
Death*	Harriet died in 1932.2

The obit continues, Miss Vandegrift was retired as a self-employed piano teacher, having taught pupils in the Delaware City, Port Penn and St. Georges areas. She also played the organ at St. Georges Presbyterian Church for 16 years. She was a charter and honorary member of Central Grange 61 in South St. Georges. She leaves no immediate survivors. Services will be Monday afternoon at 2 in the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Clinton and Henry streets, Delaware City, where friends may call an hour earlier. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, near Port Penn. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Georges Presbyterian Church, St. Georges.7
