Esther Beals1,2

F, #2011, b. 13 February 1763, d. 7 December 1850
Last Edited13 Feb 2025
Birth*Esther was born on 13 February 1763.3
Marriage*She married Moses Bartlett, son of Ebenezer Bartlett and Anna Ball, on 31 July 1791 in Newton, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. My preliminary research suggests their children were Esther Bartlett (1792-1856, m. James Hodsdon; one child at Find A Grave), Moses Bartlett (1798- ) and Mary Bartlett (1801- , m. Nathaniel Brown of N. Yarmouth, ME).
Year only in Early Settlements. NEHGS lists Moses as "of Sudbury, Canada".4,2,1
Move*Esther and Moses moved their residence from Bethel (?) To Canada, according to Jackson. This makes no sense if Hibner's information is correct about marriages, children, military record, residences, etc.5
Death*Esther died on 7 December 1850 in Hanover, Oxford Co., Maine, at age 87.3
Burial*She was buried at Hanover Cemetery in Hanover, Oxford Co., Maine. Find A Grave provides headstone photo.3

Birth*Mary, daughter of Azariah Rice and Hannah Bartlett, was born on 20 October 1734 in Brookfield, Middlesex (now Worcester) Co., Province of Massachusetts Bay, New England.3,1
Marr-Banns*Marriage record of Mary Rice and Reuben Old was published in October 1754. Hibner writes, "The Rice Family says she married Jonathan Walker, but this would appear to be in error".4,5
ResearchNote*Research Note of 29 January 2025 re Rice Family. Ward's book does not have a section on Mary. It skips from Jonas to Ephraim.
FamilySearch Trees (LZGC-Y4T) claims Mary m2 Jonathan Walker in 1763 at Sudbury. But the record cited gives her name as Mary Rice, not Mary Olds, so I suspect this is a different person.6

Census1880Lula appeared on the 1880 Federal Census Fannin Co., Texas in the household of her parents, Dr. James R. McKee and Elizabeth M. Locke, as 6 yo daughter Lula McKee.4
CensusLead*A person who might be Lula appeared on the 1900 census in the household of 57 yo stock dealer M. O. Lynn at Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto Co., Texas, as 22 yo married niece Lula McKee. Lula is married 4 years with 2 born and 2 living but no sign of her husband or children. The thing that's compelling about this enumeration is that Lula's parents' birthstates are correctly TN and KY. Birthdate of Sep 1877 is less so given she's 6 yo in the 1880 census.5
