Birth*Andrew, son of Joseph Wilson and Sarah B. Donaldson, was born on 3 August 1818 in Blount Co., Tennessee. The 1850 census puts his age at 26 yo meaning a birthyear of ca. 1824, not 1818 per PaSain!.1
Arrivals*Dr. Andrew Donaldson Wilson arrived at Republic of Texas in November 1839.3
LandGrantAndrew Donaldson was issued Conditional Certificate no. 27, recorded in Bowie County, for 320 acres of land in Bowie County, on 5 July 1841 by the Board of Land Commissioners at Bowie Co., Texas. Texas GLO website search claims this record is in file 000045 but it isn't. It should be on the next page, but that file (000046) jumps ahead one month. Apparently this particular document was not scanned or was incorrectly numbered. The values above show in the record of Wilson's unconditional certificate, and in First Settlers. An unknown second witness was William Ward.3
LandGrantJoseph Wilson and Dr. Andrew Donaldson Wilson witnessed the unconditional certificate of Dr. Samuel Wilson McKee on 6 July 1846 at Bowie Co., Republic of Texas; Unconditional Certificate no. 104, recorded in Fannin County, a 4th class headright grant for 320 acres of land in Bowie County, on Conditional Certificate no. 88 of 4 Apr 1842.4
LandGrant*Andrew Donaldson was issued Unconditional Certificate no. 28, recorded in Fannin County, a 3rd class headright grant for 320 acres of land in Bowie County, on Conditional Certificate no. 27 of 5 Jul 1841 6 July 1846 by the Board of Land Commissioners at Bowie Co., Texas.5
Marriage*He married Sarah Elizabeth Washington Hamilton on 24 March 1850 in Hunt Co., Texas.2,1
Census1850Andrew and Sarah appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Hunt Co., Texas, enumerated 16 November 1850, as 26 yo physician A. D. & 19 yo Elizabeth Wilson. No children yet. I tried to find this again thru Ancestry's 1850 census search and couldn't get it. But going to the image cited works fine. No idea how Ancestry has this entry indexed but it's certainly not 'A D Wilson.6
Census1860*Andrew and Sarah appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Greenville PO, Beat No. 4, Hunt Co., Texas, enumerated 23 July 1860, as 42 yo physician Andrew & 26 yo Elisabeth Wilson. Their children Sarah Elizabeth, Martha, Joseph Hampton and James A. were listed as living with them.7
Census1870Andrew and Sarah appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Pct. 4, Lone Oak PO, Hunt Co., Texas, enumerated 3 September 1870, as 52 yo farmer & physician Andrew & 36 yo Sarah E. Wilson. She's in the 1880 so we know she's alive.8
Census1880Andrew and Sarah appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Pct. 3, Hunt Co., Texas, enumerated 24 June 1880, as 62 yo farmer A D & 26 yo wife S E Willson. Andrew James Donaldson1

M, #4759, b. 23 February 1767, d. July 1846
Last Edited2 Nov 2022
Birth*Andrew was born on 23 February 1767 in Washington, Beaufort Co., North Carolina.2
Marriage*He married Elizabeth Armstrong before 1793 in North Carolina, date based on earliest reliable birthyear of one of her children.
Other children alleged by Ballard for whom I've found no other evidence include Polly (m. Samson Malone), Lucinda Carroll (m. Daniel Grizzel), John (m. Eleanor Armstrong), Andrew (m. Eva Liechky), Ephraim and Alexander Donaldson.
This entire family is very iffy. I've only one source and it does not cite its sources. Use with caution. The birth order of her children as given by Ballard doesn't jive with the census record.1
Census1820*Andrew James appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Franklin Co., Tennessee, with a household listed as 20011-1011 as 26-44 yo James Donaldson. Perfect but for Andrew James being one bracket too young.3
Move*Andrew and Elizabeth moved their residence from North Carolina to Franklin Co., Tennessee, then to Cherokee/Benton(Calhoun)Counties, AL. Later generations moved on to Pontotoc Co., MS and westward.1
Death*Andrew died in July 1846 in Blount Co., Alabama, at age 79.2
Burial*He was buried at Old Piedmont Cemetery in Piedmont, Calhoun Co., Alabama.2

Elizabeth Armstrong1

F, #4760, b. between 1776 and 1794, d. 1864
Last Edited2 Nov 2022
Birth*Elizabeth was born between 1776 and 1794, based on fact she's in the 26-44 bracket in the 1820 census. WikiTree claims 1738 in County Antrim, Ireland, but that's obviously wrong both because she'd be 30 years older than her husband and she'd have been 106 yo at death.2
Marriage*She married Andrew James Donaldson before 1793 in North Carolina, date based on earliest reliable birthyear of one of her children.
Census1820Elizabeth is probably the female age 26 to 44 listed in the household of her husband, Andrew James Donaldson, in the 1820 Federal Census of Franklin Co., Tennessee.3
Move*Elizabeth and Andrew moved their residence from North Carolina to Franklin Co., Tennessee, then to Cherokee/Benton(Calhoun)Counties, AL. Later generations moved on to Pontotoc Co., MS and westward.1
Death*Elizabeth died in 1864 in Calhoun Co., Alabama.4
