John Edwards1
M, #2069, b. circa 1784
Birth* | John was born circa 1784 in North Carolina.2 |
Marriage* | He married Mary "Polly" Richmond, daughter of James Richmond and Mary Donaldson, on 28 January 1819 in Wilson Co., Tennessee. Hooper claims Caswell Co, NC. Ragsdale concurs with Wilson County.3,4,5 |
Census1820 | John appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Wilson Co., Tennessee, with a household listed as 00001-101 as 26-44 yo John Edwards. There are three John Edwards households in Wilson County in the 1820 census. The other two are enumerated as 1111-2201 and 00001-1001. The latter is a possibility but brackets for both John and Mary work better with the one I've chosen. Both do require a previously unknown daughter <10 yo and both push birthdates for sons James & David to after the census.6 |
Census1830 | John appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Wilson Co., Tennessee, with a household listed as 1200001-100001 as 40-49 yo John Edwards. A perfect match.7 |
Census1840 | John appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Wilson Co., Tennessee, with a household listed as 00121001-0210001 as 50-59 yo John Edwards. One extra male in the 15-29 slots, else perfect.8 |
Residence* | John resided in Wilson Co., Tennessee, in 1850.9 |
Census1850* | John appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 20, Wilson Co., Tennessee, enumerated 7 October 1850, as 66 yo John Edwards. His children Cantriel B., Mary A., Nancy and Eliza were listed as living with him.2 |

Jane C. Lnu1
F, #2070, b. circa 1805
Birth* | Jane was born circa 1805, date estimated.1 |
Marriage* | Her first marriage was to Andrew Richmond, son of James Richmond and Mary Donaldson, circa 1825, date estimated. Ragsdale says "their only child, a son, died young, Hickman Co. KY." Wilson County has a record of a marriage between Andrew Richmond and Nancy Phipps. If this is the same Andrew, then it must have been a first marriage, as he was married to Jane at the time of his death. Ragsdale has not found a record of the Andrew-Jane marriage.1 |
Marriage* | Her second marriage was to James R. Walker circa 1845.2 |
