M, #4801, b. between 1798 and 1800, d. 1862
Last Edited27 Mar 2023
Birth*Thomas was born between 1798 and 1800 in Tennessee.3,4
Marriage*He married Elizabeth C. Donaldson, daughter of Andrew James Donaldson and Elizabeth Armstrong, before 1836, based on oldest child in the 1860 census. If James is a brother of Thomas, rather than a son, then the date should probably be more like 'before 1840'. Thomas may have had two marriages if this is same person mentioned in The descendants of John W. Corley of Hardeman County, Tennessee : including allied family lines of Carl, Dick, Hudson, McMaster, and Thompson.1,2
Census1850Thomas and Elizabeth appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Hardeman Co., Tennessee, enumerated 18 September 1850, as 52 yo farmer Thomas W & 26 yo Elizabeth Hudson. Marriage*He married Juanita Mary Lee, daughter of Prof. William A. Lee and Jewel Ruth Blair, from 7 August 1940 to 19 July 1963. My preliminary research suggests they may have had a son William Lawrence (Laurence) Carr (1947-2003). His mother's surname on his 1947 birth record is Lee and that's the only link I've found.
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1948. He divorced Shirley J Scholl in 1967 in LA. He probably married Maureen M Moore in 1982. He resided in Upland, CA in 1988 & 1993. His SSN was 568-68-9155.
See ResearchNote on Juanita's page for marriage date analysis.1,2,3
ResearchNoteResearch Note of 20 September 2021. See his m2 Juanita Mary Lee.1,4
ResearchNote*Research Note of 21 September 2021 re Carr's given name(s). Juanita's entries at Ancestry's Lyn Blair tree and FamilySearch (ID no. L4TG-VZX) both claim she married Ellis Leroy Carr (1902-1975, Find A Grave memorial no. 210296402). Neither provides even one source directly linking these two people.
Juanita and Ellis purportedly had a son William Lawrence (or Laurence) Carr. His birth record lists his mother as Lee but makes no mention of his father so it's uncertain as to who his father was, except that his surname was Carr.
Ellis L Carr m. Carmen Walsh in 1925 in Los Angeles (ref. California, U.S., County Birth, Marriage, and Death Records, 1849-1980). He and Carmen are together with their two children in the 1930 and 1940 censuses in Los Angeles.
Here's a problem - California, U.S., Divorce Index, 1966-1984 says Ellis divorced Carmen in Feb 1968 in Napa. Is the Ellis who m. Carmen a different person or did Ellis have two wives for awhile?
1942 LA city directory: Mrs. Juanita Flanders at 484 W. Ave. 46, p. 416, same location as the 1940 census. There's a Geo Flanders at 2208 W Pico Blvd, but no Geo W.
1948 LA city directory: I find neither Ellis Carr nor Juanita Carr. There is a Geo W Flanders at 3768 S Main. No Juanita or Mary Flanders listed.5,6,3,7

MotherMary Andrick1 b. 17 Jul 1772, d. 28 Jul 1853
Last Edited17 May 2023
Birth*Jacob, son of John Selsor and Mary Andrick, was born on 27 April 1797.2
Marriage*He married Elizabeth McHenry in 1815. My preliminary research suggests their children were John Jacob (1815-1864, m1 Lucinda Briggs 1840, m2 Leah Kelley 1862), Isaac (1817-1848), Bartley (1820-1836), Thompson (1824-1827), Jane (c1831- ), Christopher (Christian?) (1833-1892, m. Leah Kelly (brother John's widow) Selsor 1868) and William H Selsor (1835-1918). There are four other unidentified young people listed in the 1830-1840 censuses who may have also been their children.2
Census1820*Jacob appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Stokes Twp., Madison Co., Ohio, with a household listed as 4001-0001 as 16-25 yo Jacob Selcer. His wife Elizabeth is likely the female 26-44 yo, though one bracket too old by a year. Their sons John J, Isaac, Bartley and Thompson were probably the four males <10 yo.
In the 1830 census there's an unidentified female 15-19 yo who does not show up in this census.3
Census1830Jacob appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Stokes Twp., Madison Co., Ohio, with a household listed as 002201-210101 as 30-39 yo Jacob Selser. His wife Elizabeth is likely the female 30-39 yo. Their sons John J and Isaac the two males 15-19 yo, son Bartley the 10-14 yo male. Daughter Jane might be one of the females <5 yo. Her birthyear seems to have been between 1826-1831.
Additionally we have the following unidentified persons: female 15-19, male 10-14, female 5-9 and female <5 yo.4
Death*Jacob died on 21 November 1836 at age 39.2
Burial*He was buried at Counts Cemetery in Midway, Madison Co., Ohio. Find A Grave provides headstone photo.2

Frederick Selsor1

M, #4828, b. 1 January 1800, d. 30 March 1886
FatherJohn Selsor1 b. 10 Sep 1754, d. 11 Jul 1823
MotherMary Andrick1 b. 17 Jul 1772, d. 28 Jul 1853
Last Edited17 May 2023
Birth*Frederick, son of John Selsor and Mary Andrick, was born on 1 January 1800.2
Marriage*He married Mary "Polly" Rankin circa 1828. My preliminary research suggests their children were Elizabeth (c1830-1895, m. Wm Tway 1854), Margaret E (1832-1892, m. Robt C Parker 1856), William Johnson (1834-1908, m. Electa J (aka Letitia?) Morris 1870), David R (1837-1840), Susannah M (1840-1920, m. Daniel G Morris 1862), John A (1842-1888), Green (1844-1844) and Mary A "Polly" Selsor (1845-1895, m. Wm A Groves 1872).
In her father's will of 1854 Polly's father leaves $1,000 to his son-in-law Frederick Selsor for the use of him and his heirs.2,3
Census1840*Frederick appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Stokes Twp., Madison Co., Ohio, with a household listed as 0100201-11201 as 40-49 yo Fredrick Selsor. His wife Polly is probably the female 20-29 yo. Their other likely enumerated were 10-14 yo Elizabeth, 5-9 yo Margaret & William, and <5 yo Susannah Selsor. The two males 20-29 yo are unknown.4
Census1850*Frederick and Mary appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Stokes Twp., Madison Co., Ohio, enumerated 13 November 1850, as 49 yo farmer Frank[?] & 40 yo Polly Selsor. Their children 20 yo Elizabeth, 18 yo Margaret, 16 yo William, 10 yo Susan, 8 yo John and 5 yo Polly Selsor were listed as living with them, as well as one farm laborer.5
Census1860Frederick appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Paint Twp., Fayette Co., Ohio, enumerated 12 July 1860, as 59 yo farmer Fred Sulser. His children 25 yo William, 20 yo Susannah, 18 yo Jno and 15 yo Mary A Sulser were listed as living with him. There's also a 16 yo Ele'th Sulser who doesn't fit any of the known children, and a couple of farm laborers.6
Census1870Frederick appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Paint Twp., Fayette Co., Ohio, enumerated 9 June 1870, as 70 yo farmer Fredrick Selsor. There's a 22 yo Mollie Selsor in second position 'keeping house'. Best guess is this is daughter Mary "Polly" Selsor. His 36 yo son William J and 26 yo son John A Selsor were also listed as living with him, as well as one domestic servant.7
Census1880Frederick appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Paint Twp., Fayette Co., Ohio, enumerated 14 June 1880, as 80 yo retired farmer Frederic Selsor. His 35 yo son John Selsor was listed as living with him, as well as one servant and one farm laborer.8
Death*Frederick died on 30 March 1886 at age 86.2
Burial*He was buried at Bloomingburg Cemetery in Bloomingburg, Fayette Co., Ohio. Find A Grave provides joint headstone photo with wife Mary.2

Birth*Christeney, daughter of John Selsor and Mary Andrick, was born in 1801.2
Marriage*She married Isaac McHenry. My preliminary research suggests their children may have included William Houston (1825-1887, m. Sarah J Hornbeck 1848, 11 issue), Margaret S (1828-1862) and David H McHenry (1831-1859).2
Death*Christeney died on 4 November 1831.2
Burial*She was buried at Counts Cemetery in Midway, Madison Co., Ohio. Find A Grave provides headstone photo.2
ResearchNote*Research Note re dearth of sources. I've found very little primary evidence for this couple online. The census record is confused. Another Isaac McHenry in the Ohio area at that time, married to Elizabeth Sedam, complicates things.
