The informant was Louisa's daughter Barbara's husband John T Arterburn, who may or may not have known of what he spoke. If he's right then several possibilites are available: namely, a) Martha's maiden name was Goodwin and she m1 Crump before marrying Drury, b) her maiden name was Crump and she m1 Goodwin before Drury, or c) she m2 Goodwin after the 1870 census and before her death in 1883.6 |

Julia Burbridge1
F, #6514
Marriage* | She married William Torian, son of George Torian and Martha "Patsy" Palmer, in July 1836. My preliminary research suggests their children were Jas (ca 1837-?), Ophelia (ca 1840-?) and Elizabeth (ca 1843-?) Torian.2,1,3 |

Amos Lander1
M, #6515
Birth* | Amos was born in near Winchester, Virginia.2 |
Marriage* | He married Arabella Torian, daughter of George Torian and Martha "Patsy" Palmer, on 19 May 1828 in Christian Co., Kentucky. Lander writes, He married a Miss Torian and had four children, but his line is now extinct. George died unmarried. Sally married W. C. Lander of the tribe of William. Ursula Lander married Stephen Miller, but they were childless. She was a widow many years, and was living at last account. FSTrees (entry for Ursula A Lander (1834-1909), ID no. LZTY-W8J) claims one other daughter for this couple, Mary Elizabeth Lander, b. 1838, but I've found no real evidence yet.3,1,2 |
Census1830* | Amos appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 10001-00001 as 20-29 yo Amos Lander. Arabella is likely the female 20-29 and son George the male under 5. John L Lander, likely brother to Amos, and family live next door. Other familiar names on this sheet include William and Stephen Lander, Dickey Chappell, Thomas Dunkerson, and Abraham, Mary, and Elijah Cravens.4 |

Stephen Strode Lander1
M, #6516, b. 22 February 1796, d. 26 June 1862
Birth* | Stephen was born on 22 February 1796 in near Winchester, Clark Co., Kentucky, s/o William Lander & Letitia Strode.2,3 |
Marriage* | He married Mary Torian, daughter of George Torian and Martha "Patsy" Palmer, on 26 June 1829 in Christian Co., Kentucky. Bostick's date is 10 June in the Lander-Torian entry, perhaps the license date rather than actual marriage. Lander's date is also 10 June. Nine chldren per Lander. I've entered them all. The census record supports all but the first Letitia who was born and died between censuses. Lander's nine does NOT include the male <5 yo in 1830, 10-14 yo in 1840. In fact I've found no source to date that does include him. A nephew, foster child, orphan, or simply a son who has been missed?.4,1,5 |
Census1830* | Stephen Strode appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 100001-00001 as 30-39 yo Stephen Lander. Mary is likely the 20-29 yo female. Unknown son Fnu is the son under 5 yo. There are a lot of familiar names on this census page.6 |
Census1840 | Stephen Strode appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 0110001-201001 as 40-49 yo Stephen S Lander. Likely household members include, Mary as female 30-39, Fnu as male 10-14, Martha as female 10-14, George as male 5-9, Mary & Letitia as the two females under 5. As with the 1830 census there are a lot of familiar names on this census page.7 |
Census1850* | Stephen and Mary appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 1, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 4 September 1850, as 52 yo farmer Stephen S & 41 yo Mary Lander. Their children George William, Mary Eliza, Letitia Elizabeth "Letty", Susan Ellen, Stephen Strode and Arabella "Belle" were listed as living with them. As with the 1830 and 1840 censuses there are several familiar names on the same sheet, including Peter T & Martha Owen, Dickie & Susan Chappell, John B & Mary McCarty and William & Julia Torian. This sheet is quite faint.8 |
Census1860 | Stephen and Mary appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 23 August 1860, as 62 yo farmer Stephen S & 51 yo Mary Lander. Their children Mary Eliza, Susan Ellen, Stephen Strode, Arabella "Belle" and James E. were listed as living with them. Son George W and his first wife Sarah live next door below. Stephen & Mary are filthy rich with $41,400 in real and $16,650 in personal estate.9 |
Death* | Stephen died on 26 June 1862 at age 66.3 |
Burial* | He was buried at John Thurmond farm graveyard in near Trigg County line, Christian Co., Kentucky. The graveyard has since been destroyed.3 |

Peter T. Owen1
M, #6517, b. circa 1819, d. 1872
Birth* | Peter was born circa 1819 in Virginia, date based on 31 yo in 1850 census.2 |

Census1850* | Peter and Martha appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 1, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 4 September 1850, as 31 yo farmer Peter T & 39 yo Martha Owen. Their children Barbara, Thomas A, Mary and Ursula Belle were listed as living with them, as well as Martha's niece 17 yo Sally A Landry (Lander). Next door below are Martha's first cousin Susan McCarty Chappell and family. Four doors below are Martha's brother William and his family. Five doors below are Martha's brother Stephen and his family.2 |
Census1860 | Peter and Martha appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Hopkinsville PO, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 6 September 1860, as 42 yo farmer P T & 48 yo Martha Owen. Their children Barbara, Thomas A, Mary, Ursula Belle and Sarah Frances "Sally" were listed as living with them.4 |
Death* | Peter died in 1872 in Christian Co., Kentucky.1 |
ResearchNote* | Research Note of 23 August 2019 re FSTrees. Eentry for Peter T Owen (1818-1870), ID no. LC3T-MTC), claims a second marriage for Peter to Martha Hurt (1811- ) but provides no marriage date or other source citation. Since his m1 Martha Torian is alone w/ two of their children in the 1870 census this seems possible. I do not find Peter in the 1870 census. FSTrees says he died 08 March 1870 without citation. Bostick claims he died in 1872 so he should be out there somewhere. |

My preliminary research suggests their children were Mary Elizabeth (1843-1863), Christian Henry (1844-1932, 31st VA Infantry, POW Gettysburg, m. Elizabeth Jones 1874), Samuel David (1848-1923, m. Etta Tyre) and Moses Tobias Andrick (1860-1948, m. Lula McCoskey 1886). Moses is an odd one in that he never shows up in a census record with his parents. He was born 30 Oct 1860 so missed that census but should have been there in 1870 and possibly 1880.2,1,3 |

Birth* | John, son of Charles McCarty and Ursula Palmer, was born in 1808 in Tennessee, during the family's move to Kentucky. Bostick claims year 1808. Four above is Peter Torian (0000100001-0000100011.)7 |
