Marriage*He married Elizabeth Richmond, daughter of James Richmond and Mary Donaldson, on 22 April 1819 in Wilson Co., Tennessee. Ragsdale states their marriage is recorded in Wilson County.4,5 
Census1840James appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Wilson Co., Tennessee, with a household listed as 2112001-0011001 as 40-49 yo James Baird. An imperfect enumeration based on what we know now - two females 10-19 unidentified, one male 15-19 same, Andrew seems one bracket too high, and there's one more male <5 unknown.6 
LandDeal*He purchased 626 acres on Sinking Creek, Wilson County from James Richmond on 14 May 1844.7 
Estate-AdminJames Baird administered the estate of James Richmond after 1 June 1844 at Wilson Co., Tennessee.5,8,9 
LawsuitJames, Daniel, Mary, Nancy, Eliza, David, Cantriel, James, Mary, Thomas, James, Mary, Elihugh, Nancy and Thomas was named in a lawsuit filed by James R. Walker in 1849 in Hickman County.10 
Residence*James and Elizabeth resided in Wilson Co., Tennessee, in 1850.11 
Census1850*James and Elizabeth appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 21, Wilson Co., Tennessee, enumerated 25 September 1850, as 54 yo James & 51 yo Elizabeth Baird. Their children James R., Andrew, Daniel, William and Rufus were listed as living with them. Others in the household are unidentified: James S. and Mary Steed with children Sarah, James and John. There's also a 15 yo George Bryant.2 
Census1860*James appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Dist. 21, Wilson Co., Tennessee, enumerated 23 July 1860, as 63 yo farmer James Beard. His children Andrew and Daniel were listed as living with him. Others currently unidentified include 46 yo Emily Beard (perhaps James remarried), 30 yo Nancy Reid, 11 yo Jas Hunt, and 9 yo Mary Hunt.12

     The Knowlton Genealogy claims that Silas's surname was Knowlton, that he was s/o Thomas and Jane (Carter) Knowlton, that he m. Mehitable Kendricks, and that their children were Achsah, Polly, Dexter, Anna and Silas B Knowlton. No sources were cited that I could find.4,5,2,6
