Lawsuit*James filed a lawsuit in 1849 in Hickman County, petitioning for a division of the property of Jane's first husband, Andrew Richmond. Because James' only son had predeceased him, his estate was divided between his wife, brothers and sisters, or their first heirs. The estate consisted of a large amount of land.1

Marriage*His first marriage was to Rachael Caroline Caraway on 8 July 1843 at Wilson Co., Tennessee. My preliminary research suggests they had a son, James M., farmer and stock raiser of the 11th District of Gibson County, Tennessee. More information is available in Goodspeed's History. Ancestry Trees make claims of other issue without citation.3,4,2

Estate-MiscIn Grayson County Probate Court's May term, 1858, James R. McKee, as estate administrator for Thomas Richmond, faced a petition by Will Melling and James P. Richmond asking the court to compel him "to make an annual report of said estate and show cause why final settlement of the same should not be made." Said petition was granted. The Richmond v. McKee suit continued until June term, 1859, when the court decided that 23 heirs were entitled to a total of $3,539.93. Jane McKee is mentioned, but only 22 of them are listed with amounts. Final settlement occurred during the September term, 1859, as recorded in Minutes, p. 98; In Grayson County Probate Court's May term, 1858, Richmond's administrator, J.R. McKee, faced a petition by Will Melling and James P. Richmond asking the court to compel McKee "to make an annual report of said estate and show cause why final settlement of the same should not be made." Said petition was granted. The Richmond v. Birth*Mary was born on 12 December 1864 in Fairville, Chester Co., Pennsylvania, d/o John Garrett & Sue Lamborn.2 
Marriage*She married Elwood Wallace Dayett, son of John Wiley Dayett and Ann Elizabeth Wright, on 20 November 1884 in Delaware. Elwood and Mary Ella must have divorced (excepting bigamy) before his March 1920 m2 to Laura Weldin. In the 1921 Wilmington city directory Mary Ella is listed as Mrs. Ella M Dayett, living on W. 9th St. Elwood is listed as Ellwood W Dayett, living on W. 8th St.
     The marriage license was probably dated the 19th as there's another marriage record showing that date.
     My preliminary research suggests their children were Elizabeth W (1886-1906) and John Rowland Garrett (1887-1889).3,1,4 
Census1900*Mary and Elwood appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Wilmington Ward 5, New Castle Co., Delaware, enumerated 7 June 1900, as 42 yo ice plant engineer Elwood W & 35 yo wife Mary E Dayett. Their 14 yo daughter Elizabeth W Dayett was listed as living with them as well as two sisters-in-law and two boarders.5 
Census1910Mary and Elwood appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Wilmington Ward 5, New Castle Co., Delaware, enumerated 16 April 1910, as 51 yo engineer Elwood W & 46 yo wife M Ella Dayett. One sister-in-law and four boarders were living with them.6 
Death*Mary died on 12 February 1947 in Roselle Terrace, New Castle Co., Delaware, at age 82.2 
Burial*She was buried at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Newark, New Castle Co., Delaware. Find A Grave provides photo of joint headstone with husband Elwood.2

Birth*Laura was born in 1875 in Delaware. Middle name allegedly Hickman but I find no primary sources.2 
Marriage*She married Elwood Wallace Dayett, son of John Wiley Dayett and Ann Elizabeth Wright, on 2 March 1920 in Wilmington, New Castle Co., Delaware. When married Elwood was a widower and Laura was divorced.3,1 
Census1930*Laura and Elwood appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Wilmington, New Castle Co., Delaware, enumerated 11 April 1930, as 70 yo passenger elevator operator Elwood W & 50 yo wife Laura H Dayett. Five roomers were listed as living with them.4 
Death*Laura died on 18 January 1943.2 
Burial*She was buried at Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington, New Castle Co., Delaware.2

My preliminary research suggests their children were Louise W (c1902-b1958), Emma Elizabeth (1902-1986, m. Alber Douglas Ayerst 1924), Charlotte Willets (1904-1980, m. John Chesley Stewart) and John Wiley Dayett (1910-1939).3,1

Reuben A Diebert 1907, res. Elkton, MD 1931), Florence Viola (1890-1983, m. John Leslie Ford 1920, res. Cooch's Bridge 1931) and Harry Lafayette Dayett (1895-1964, m. Sarah Matilda Laws 1914).3,4,1
