Birth*Daniel, son of Hardy Wyatt and Martha Lnu, was born circa 1820 in Georgia. Ancestry's James Wyatt Family Tree claims he was the s/o Hardy & Martha, without citation. I find no census where he is living with either parent or any of his alleged siblings.2

Arrest*Daniel was convicted in Laurens County of voluntary manslaughter and served two years beginning on 26 April 1854. He is described in the as 36 yo, 5'-6" tall, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, farmer from Laurens County.1
Marriage*His second marriage was to Sarah Jane Bonswell on 14 April 1859 at Washington Co., Georgia.5,6

Marriage*He married Elsie Mae Hull, daughter of John C. Hull and Stella Mae Downey, on 6 September 1916 in Beaver Co., Oklahoma. My preliminary research suggests their children were Cecil Pauline (1918-1977), m. Oliver Ovester Townsend,
Earnest Lavohn (1920-1951), m. Kathryn Elizabeth Brown, Clifton P "Buck" (1922-2002), m. Juanita Winona Morris, Betty Rae (1925-2019), m. Delbert Eugene Sager, and John Mark Sharp (1932-1932).3,4,5,2
Census1920*Cecil and Elsie appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Balko Twp., Beaver Co., Oklahoma, enumerated circa 13 January 1920, as 23 yo farmer Cecil E & 18 yo wife Elsie M Sharp. Their 1.1 yo daughter Cecil P Sharp was listed as living with them, as well as Cecil's 59 yo widowed mother Emma Sharp.6

Birth*Bernice, daughter of John C. Hull and Stella Mae Downey, was born on 6 June 1906 in Perry, Noble Co., Oklahoma.2,3
Census1920Bernice appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Liberal, Seward Co., Kansas in the household of her parents, John C. Hull and Stella Mae Downey, as 14 yo daughter Bernice Hull.4
Marriage*Her first marriage was to Clyde Odis Bollinger on 10 February 1920 at Beaver Co., Oklahoma. My preliminary research suggests their only child was infant son Bollinger (1924-1924). Clyde later married Cleo Beatrice Lnu. They lived in Los Angeles on 15 Feb 1942.5,2,6
ResearchNote*Research Note of 26 March 2021 re unverified claims. Find A Grave claims Bernice Hull m1 Omer Clarence Bollinger and had a child Elda who was born & died in 1923. Omer & Bernice are said to have divorced shortly thereafter. There is a Find A Grave memorial for Elda Bollinger at Blue Mound Cemetery, same as Bernice, so that may all be true. I find neither marriage nor divorce records. They would likely be in Oklahoma, same as the cemetery.
Were there two Bernice Hulls in Oklahoma around this time? Are Clyde Odis and Omer Clarence really the same person? I worked on the assumption they were brothers but couldn't find any families in the censuses of OK or TX that had either son, let alone both. The dates don't really work for two separate marriages anyway.
Ancestry's Martin-Buster-Humphrey...tree shows a school yearbook for Bernice Hall at USC in 1925. The fine print says she went to Salt Lake City high school. Perhaps after her purported divorce (c1923) she headed west, but her parents were in Kansas in 1920 and in Arkansas in 1930. I don't find this source compelling. This tree also claims her middle name is Naomi without any proof.

Residence*Bernice and Clyde resided in Amarillo, Potter Co., Texas, on 22 March 1924.2
ResidenceBernice resided in Amarillo, Potter Co., Texas, on 1 April 1935.7
Marriage*Her second marriage was to David Hamilton from 1 April 1935 to 9 September 1943. Bernice's mother's obit lists Bernice as surviving daughter Mrs. Bernice Hamilton of Long Beach, Cali. The 1940 census shows Dave living in San Luis Obisbo on 01 Apr 1935, Bernice in Amarillo.1,3
Census1940*Bernice and David appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Inglewood Twp., Los Angeles Co., California, enumerated 29 April 1940, as restaurant proprietors 31 yo Dave & 33 yo Bernice Hamilton.7
Residence*Bernice resided in Long Beach, Los Angeles Co., California, on 9 September 1943.1
Death*Bernice died on 8 June 1967 in Tacoma, Pierce Co., Washington, at age 61. Specific newspaper not noted by Obit Index nor is the text of the obit available.8,9,3,1
Burial*She was buried at Blue Mound Cemetery in Balko, Beaver Co., Oklahoma. Headstone photo & short bio available at Find A Grave.3

Birth*Arabella, daughter of Peter Torian and Susanna Palmer, was born in 1808 in Tennessee. Bostick claims 1803 in the 2nd Torian-Palmer entry.2
Census1810Arabella is probably the female under age 10 listed in the household of her father, Peter Torian, in the 1810 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky.3

Hardy Boyd1

M, #6499, b. 6 March 1798, d. 29 November 1851
FatherAbner Boyd2 b. c 1773, d. bt 1833 - 1844
MotherMary "Polly" Palmer2 b. c 1777
Last Edited28 Apr 2024
Birth*Hardy, son of Abner Boyd and Mary "Polly" Palmer, was born on 6 March 1798. Find A Grave's date is 06 Mar 1793 but Bostick's 1798 version makes more sense with his parents' marriage date.2,3
Marriage*His first marriage was to Mary "Polly" Torian, daughter of Peter Torian and Susanna Palmer, on 6 December 1813 at Christian Co., Kentucky. My preliminary research suggests their children were George (1816-1889), Edward (1820-1877), Louisa (1822-1852), Martha Ann (1824-1899), James Henry (1825-1870), Richard (1826-1873) and Mary E. (1830-1849) Boyd.4,1,3
Census1820*Hardy appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 30011-1001, as 26-44 yo Hardy Boyd. Wife Polly is the female 26-44 (probably one bracket too old). Daughter Susan is the female under 10, sons George & Edward are two of the three males under 10. One other unknown is the male 16 to 25. On same census page find Francis, Wm, Aaron, and David Boyd, relationships unknown.5
Census1830Hardy appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 203001-0210001, as 30-39 yo Hardy Boyd. Some of the age brackets are off by one but I believe wife Mary is the female 40-49, children Susan (10-14), George & Edward (10-14), Louisa & Martha Ann (5-9), James & Richard (under 5) were listed with him. There's one male 10-14 unexplained.6
Census1840Hardy appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 0020101-0002001, as 40-49 yo Hardy Boyd. Wife Mary has died and I believe Hardy is already shacking up with her sister, his future wife, Susan as the 40-49 yo female. There's one male 20-29 who could be either son George or son Edward. The two females 15 to 19 are likely Louisa and Martha Ann. The two males 10-14 are James and Richard. Daughter Mary should be here but is MIA.7
Marriage*His second marriage was to Susan Torian, daughter of Peter Torian and Susanna Palmer, on 7 November 1841 at Christian Co., Kentucky.8,9
Census1850*Hardy and Susan appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 1, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 17 August 1850, as 59 yo Hardy & 57 yo Susan Boyd. Their children Louisa, Richard and Martha Ann were listed as living with them. The children's mother is Hardy's m1 Polly, not sister Susan. Four others in the household are presently unknown - 8 yo Mary E, 6 yo Jas E, 5 yo Hardy G, and 4 yo Lucy Jane Boyd.10
ResearchNoteResearch Note of 21 May 2019. See Peter Torian (c1764-1845).
Death*Hardy died on 29 November 1851 at age 53.3
Burial*He was buried at Ada Boyd Cemetery in Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky. Headstone photo available at Find A Grave.3
ResearchNote*Research Note of 8 June 2019 re daughters & wives. Bostick writes that Mary & Susan were sisters, which is confirmed, and that Hannah Lander, his m2, was a cousin. Also that these three women's mothers were daughters of Ed Palmer. Mary & Susan's mother was Susannah Palmer but we show no sister named Hannah. More research needed to confirm or disprove this relationship. There were no children from the 2nd & 3rd marriages to Hannah and Susan.2

Alexander W. Arbuckle1,2,3

M, #6501, b. circa 1807
Last Edited19 Jan 2025
Birth*Alexander was born circa 1807 in Virginia, s/o Thomas Arbuckle & Jane Davis. Family Search ID no. 2CBB-D8G claims he was born 12 Jan 1807 in Greenbrier Co., WV, but offers no source citation. West Virginia became a state in 1863; Greenbrier County having been formed in 1777.
WV Will Books has a will for Alexander Welch Arbuckle but it seems unlikely he is the same man because none of the other names in the will are familiar.4,3
Marriage*He married Arabella Torian, daughter of Peter Torian and Susanna Palmer, on 16 July 1831 in Christian Co., Kentucky. KY Marriages has Arabella's surname indexed as Grian but it's pretty clearly Torian if you know ahead of time.5,2
Census1840*Alexander W. appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 100001-010001, as 30-39 yo Alexander W Arbuckle.6
Census1850*Alexander and Arabella appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 1, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 6 September 1850, as 43 yo Alex W & 41 yo Arabel Arbuckle. Their children Susan J., Thomas George, James A., Mary Elizabeth, Robert A. and Alice B. were listed as living with them.7
ResearchNoteResearch Note of 21 May 2019. See Peter Torian (c1764-1845).
Census1860Alexander appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Hopkinsville PO, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 6 August 1860, as 53 yo A W Arbrickle. His children Thomas George, James A., Mary Elizabeth, Robert A., Alice B. and Charles G. were listed as living with him.8
Census1870Alexander appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Wallonia Pct., Trigg Co., Kentucky, enumerated 14 September 1870, as 63 yo Alexander Arbuckle. His m2 wife 58 yo Sarah was listed as living with him. Trees shows a marriage to Sarah Edwards on 10 Jul 1862 in Trigg County.9
ResearchNote*Research Note of 17 June 2022 re FamilySearch. Records provides no hits for Alexander W or Alexander Welch. FSTrees (ID no. 2CBB-D8G) shows six sources (four marriage, one census, one will). Trees claims without citation his birth on 12 Jan 1807 in Greenbrier, WV. Also without citation his death 17 Jul 1873 same location. FS Genealogies turns up several IGI records (useless), the Klepko Family Tree, 2:2:2:MMDR-J91, in Pedigree Resources (useless) and an unnamed tree, 2:2:2:MM3H-TN6 (useless.)

Drury Torian1

M, #6502, b. 1802
FatherGeorge Torian1 b. bt 1766 - 1767, d. b 1831
MotherMartha "Patsy" Palmer1 b. c 1781
Last Edited29 Apr 2024
Birth*Drury, son of George Torian and Martha "Patsy" Palmer, was born in 1802. FSTrees (entry for Drury Torian (1802-1849), ID no. LZ38-6WB) claims he died in Halifax Co., Virginia, without citation.1
Census1820Drury is probably the male age 16 to 25 listed in the household of his father, George Torian, in the 1820 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky.2
Marriage*His first marriage was to Obedience O. Torian on 8 May 1823 at Trigg Co., Kentucky. Drury and Obedience were frst cousins.3,1
Census1830*Drury appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Trigg Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 10001-20001 as 20-29 yo Drewry Torian. Obedience is likely the 20-29 yo wife. The two girls <5 are currently unknown. The boy <5 may be son George as shown by https://www.myheritage.com/names/george_torian, though I've found no other references. Living next door is Jacob Torian (11121001-01100001) who I believe is the one who married Mary B Owen. Both Jacob and Mary are one bracket too old. One son is likely missing. Otherwise it's a good fit.4
Census1840Drury appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, with a household listed as 011001-121001 as 30-9 yo Drewry Torian. Obedience is likely the wife 30-39, daughter Sarah likely the female <5. As with the 1830 there are several unknown persons - a dau & a son 10-15, two daus 5-9.
Two doors up is Samuel E Means, three up is Young J Means (ID 2772.)5
Marriage*His second marriage was to Martha Crump on 30 June 1846 at Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky.6,1
Death*Drury died. FSTrees (entry for Drury Torian (1802-1849), ID no. LZ38-6WB) claims 08 May 1849 without citation. The year 1849 is possible since his m2 Martha is living alone in the 1850 census.
ResearchNote*Research Note of 8 August 2019 re 1830-1840 censuses. Based on the 1830 & 1840 censuses Drury and Obedience had at least four daughters and one son. MyHeritage.com claims the son's name was George but provides no citation. Their youngest daughter Sarah Elizabeth is well documented. As best I can tell Louisa and JD were the only issue of Drury's m2 to Martha Crump.

Marriage*She married Amos Lander on 19 May 1828 in Christian Co., Kentucky. Lander writes, He married a Miss Torian and had four children, but his line is now extinct. George died unmarried. Sally married W. C. Lander of the tribe of William. Ursula Lander married Stephen Miller, but they were childless. She was a widow many years, and was living at last account. FSTrees (entry for Ursula A Lander (1834-1909), ID no. LZTY-W8J) claims one other daughter for this couple, Mary Elizabeth Lander, b. 1838, but I've found no real evidence yet.3,1,4

Birth*Mary, daughter of George Torian and Martha "Patsy" Palmer, was born in 1809 in Halifax Co., Virginia.1
Census1820Mary is probably one of the three females age 10 to 15 listed in the household of her father, George Torian, in the 1820 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky.2
Marriage*She married Stephen Strode Lander on 26 June 1829 in Christian Co., Kentucky. Bostick's date is 10 June in the Lander-Torian entry, perhaps the license date rather than actual marriage. Lander's date is also 10 June.
Nine chldren per Lander. I've entered them all. The census record supports all but the first Letitia who was born and died between censuses. Lander's nine does NOT include the male <5 yo in 1830, 10-14 yo in 1840. In fact I've found no source to date that does include him. A nephew, foster child, orphan, or simply a son who has been missed?.3,1,4
Census1830Mary is probably the female age 20 to 29 listed in the household of her husband, Stephen Strode Lander, in the 1830 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky.5
Census1840Mary is probably the female age 30 to 39 listed in the household of her husband, Stephen Strode Lander, in the 1840 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky.6
Census1850*Mary and Stephen appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 1, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 4 September 1850, as 52 yo farmer Stephen S & 41 yo Mary Lander. Their children George William, Mary Eliza, Letitia Elizabeth "Letty", Susan Ellen, Stephen Strode and Arabella "Belle" were listed as living with them. As with the 1830 and 1840 censuses there are several familiar names on the same sheet, including Peter T & Martha Owen, Dickie & Susan Chappell, John B & Mary McCarty and William & Julia Torian. This sheet is quite faint.7
Census1860Mary and Stephen appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 23 August 1860, as 62 yo farmer Stephen S & 51 yo Mary Lander. Their children Mary Eliza, Susan Ellen, Stephen Strode, Arabella "Belle" and James E. were listed as living with them. Son George W and his first wife Sarah live next door below. Stephen & Mary are filthy rich with $41,400 in real and $16,650 in personal estate.8
Death*Mary died on 12 December 1865 in Christian Co., Kentucky.1,9
Burial*She was buried at John Thurmond farm graveyard in near Trigg County line, Christian Co., Kentucky. The graveyard has since been destroyed.10

Martha Torian1

F, #6507, b. 1811
FatherGeorge Torian1 b. bt 1766 - 1767, d. b 1831
MotherMartha "Patsy" Palmer1 b. c 1781
Last Edited28 Apr 2024
Birth*Martha, daughter of George Torian and Martha "Patsy" Palmer, was born in 1811 in Halifax Co., Virginia. Date based on Bostick and the 1820-1830 and 1850-1870 censuses, all of which suggest ca. 1811. There's a Find A Grave memorial (14333738) which may be hers. It shows a lifespan of 1805-1896. See Research Note dated 22 Aug 2019.1,2
Census1820Martha is probably one of the three females under age 10 listed in the household of her father, George Torian, in the 1820 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky.3
Census1830Martha is probably one of the two females age 15 to 19 listed in the household of her mother, Martha "Patsy" Palmer, in the 1830 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky.4
Marriage*She married Peter T. Owen on 19 October 1840 in Christian Co., Kentucky.5,1
Census1850*Martha and Peter appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 1, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 4 September 1850, as 31 yo farmer Peter T & 39 yo Martha Owen. Their children Barbara, Thomas A, Mary and Ursula Belle were listed as living with them, as well as Martha's niece 17 yo Sally A Landry (Lander). Next door below are Martha's first cousin Susan McCarty Chappell and family. Four doors below are Martha's brother William and his family. Five doors below are Martha's brother Stephen and his family.2
Census1860Martha and Peter appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Hopkinsville PO, Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 6 September 1860, as 42 yo farmer P T & 48 yo Martha Owen. Their children Barbara, Thomas A, Mary, Ursula Belle and Sarah Frances "Sally" were listed as living with them.6
Census1870*Martha appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Scates Mill Pct., Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 12 July 1870, as 59 yo Martha Owen. Her children Ursula Belle and Sarah Frances "Sally" were listed as living with her.7
ResearchNote*Research Note of 22 August 2019 re 1880 census. Here's a possible scenario for 1880. If the Find A Grave memorial 14333738 is for this Martha, then likely the Mary A Fields (Find A Grave 14333747) in same cemetery is her daughter. The 1880 census has an entry for Walker T & Mary A Fields in Caldwell County, MO, with five children and 75 yo mother-in-law Martha Owen. This Martha born VA as were both her parents. That all works but I've found no corroborating evidence that this is our Martha at all.

ResearchNoteResearch Note of 23 August 2019. See husband Peter T Owen (c1819-1872).
