Census1830Robert is probably the male age 15 to 19 listed in the household of his father, James Johnson, in the 1830 Federal Census of Wilkinson Co., Georgia.4

Census1850*Robert and Mary appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Div. 93, Wilkinson Co., Georgia, enumerated 9 October 1850, as 39 yo farmer R. B. and 38 yo Mary Ann Johnson. Their children James H., Isaac F., Green B. and William J. were listed as living with them. Others in the household include Sara Ann, Sophronia, and Elizabeth Carr who may be sisters, daughters, or nieces of Mary Ann. Also in the household was a 26 yo farmer John Stone.6
ResearchNote*Research Note of 22 July 2020 re Sara, Saphronia & Elizabeth Carr. Maddox in Wilkinson Historical says that Sara Ann Carr (b 1836, TMG 3557), Saphronia Carr [sic] (b 1838, m Wm R Parker, TMH 3560) and Elizabeth Carr (m Allen Dykes, TMG 3556) were living with Robert and Mary Ann. Maddox doesn't say whether they were sisters, nieces or what. Gibson claims the three Carr girls as stepchildren of Robert & Mary Ann Carr. Previously I listed them as step-daughters but have since removed that link. They're still in the dB if exact relationship is ever discovered.

MotherCatherine C. Ross2,4 b. 31 Aug 1827, d. 26 Oct 1905
Last Edited1 Apr 2023
Birth*Emma, daughter of Isaac F. Johnson and Catherine C. Ross, was born in March 1866 in Wilkinson Co., Georgia. Maddox & Carter, in 40k GA Marriages, claim she was the d/o Charles T & Delphia Mercer Johnson.1,5
Census1870Emma appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Irwinton P.O., Wilkinson Co., Georgia in the household of her parents, Isaac F. Johnson and Catherine C. Ross, as 5 yo Emma Johnson.6
Census1880Emma appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Bethel 1245th GMD, Wilkinson Co., Georgia in the household of her parents, Isaac F. Johnson and Catherine C. Ross, as 13 yo Emma K Johnson.7
Estate-WillEmma was named an heir in the will of Isaac F. Johnson, her father, dated 15 March 1887 at Wilkinson Co., Georgia, receiving after the death of her mother the home and lands on which they lived.8,3,9
Marriage*She married James Hardy Wyatt, son of Daniel Wyatt and Elizabeth Lnu, on 30 October 1887 in Laurens Co., Georgia. The license was issued in Wilkinson County 29 Oct 1887.
She is mentioned in her father's will of 15 Mar 1887 as Emma whereas her sisters are listed as Frances Stinson, Sara Sanders, etc; the implication being that Emma was not yet married; in the 1900 census: Emma & JH have been married 13 years; if accurate, then they were married before 25 Jun 1887; she is referred to as Mrs. Emma Wyatt (deceased) in her mother's obituary. Her first child Georgia was born in July 1888.
Ancestry shows 5 issue from this marriage: Ellis, Eula, Georgia, Ida Mae, and Emma Frankie. They're missing Oscar F.10,3,2
Census1900Emma and James appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Bethel Pct., Wilkinson Co., Georgia, enumerated 25 June 1900, as 43 yo farmer James H & 34 yo wife Emma K Wyatt. Their children Georgia H., Ellis E., Oscar F., Ida Mae, Eula B. and Ralph L. were listed as living with them, as well as Emma's mother, 72 yo widow Katie C. Johnson.11
Death*Emma died before 26 October 1905. Her daughter Emma born on 22 Aug 1901. She preceded her mother in death (26 Oct 1905).2
Burial*She was buried at unknown cemetery, Wilkinson Co., Georgia. James believed his grandmother was buried in Wilkinson County, but did not know where.12,2
BioNote*Biography Note of 11 November 2001: James, Debra & Eric visited Aunt Lillian at her home in February, 1996 after visiting Bluewater and Mt. Zion cemeteries. Lillian knew that her grandmother's maiden name was Johnson. It was this clue that led us to the Isaac F Johnson will and the extension of this family line. In the 1880 Census she is listed as having had 7 children with 6 living. Six are living with her and JH in the 1900 along with her mother Katie C Johnson.

Birth*Jacob was born in March 1848 in Georgia.4
Marriage*He married Penny M. Johnson, daughter of Isaac F. Johnson and Catherine C. Ross, circa 1872. Married 28 years in the 1900 census, with 10 born and 7 still living. Married 34 years in 1910, with 8 born and 6 living.4,5,1,6
Census1880Jacob and Penny appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Bethel 1245th GMD, Wilkinson Co., Georgia, enumerated 3 June 1880, as 31 yo farmer Jacob E & 25 yo wife Pensy M Player. Their children Grover R. and Katie F. were listed as living with them.7

Census1910Jacob appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Mitchell's 364th GMD, Dodge Co., Georgia, enumerated 12 May 1910, as 60 yo farmer Jacob & 42 yo wife Manda Player. Interesting that this is listed as 2nd marriage for both Jacob and wife. She is enumerated as, perhaps, Marsha. Issue Mattie May, Ola, William W., and a 20 yo step-son John H. (unreadable) were living with them. Apparently Penny has died and this really is m2 for Jacob.5

James Hardy Wyatt1,2,3

M, #3026, b. 16 June 1856, d. 11 March 1925
FatherDaniel Wyatt4 b. c 1820
MotherElizabeth Lnu5,6 b. c 1828
Last Edited27 Apr 2024
Birth*James, son of Daniel Wyatt and Elizabeth Lnu, was born on 16 June 1856 in Wilkinson Co., Georgia.7,2,8,9
Census1860James appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Wrightsville P.O., Johnson Co., Georgia in the household of his parents, Daniel Wyatt and Sarah Jane Bonswell, as 4 yo James Wyatt.10,5
Marriage*His first marriage was to Sarah Elisabeth Daniel on 19 October 1876. In the 1880 their eldest child is 1 yo. Ancestry's James wyatt Family Tree provides this date without citation.8,11
Census1880*James and Sarah appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Dublin 342nd GMD, Laurens Co., Georgia, enumerated 22 June 1880, as 23 yo farmer J H & 20 yo wife Elisabeth Wyatt. Their children Mattie E. and Lelilar G. "Lila" were listed as living with them.8
Marriage*His second marriage was to Emma Katherine Johnson, daughter of Isaac F. Johnson and Catherine C. Ross, on 30 October 1887 at Laurens Co., Georgia.
They're missing Oscar F.12,13,14
Census1900*James and Emma appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Bethel Pct., Wilkinson Co., Georgia, enumerated 25 June 1900, as 43 yo farmer James H & 34 yo wife Emma K Wyatt. Their children Georgia H., Ellis E., Oscar F., Ida Mae, Eula B. and Ralph L. were listed as living with them, as well as Emma's mother, 72 yo widow Katie C. Johnson.2
Marriage*His third marriage was to Lula Vann on 13 March 1902 at Laurens Co., Georgia. The 1920 census calls her "Mrs. Lula", possibly implying a prior marriage; JWP interview confirms her given name was Lula; this is shown as James' 4th marriage in the 1910 census. 5 born with 4 living in 1910.15,1
Census1910James and Lula appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Dudley 1681st GMD, Laurens Co., Georgia, enumerated 7 May 1910, as 53 yo farmer James H & 26 yo wife Lwlar Wyatt. Their children Ida Mae, Eula B., Emma Frankie, Oscar Lewis, Elizabeth Jane "Lizzie" and Georgia were listed as living with them.1
Census1920*James and Lula appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Lowery's Dist., Laurens Co., Georgia, enumerated 2 March 1920, as 64 yo farm laborer J H & 36 yo wife Mrs. Lula Wayatt. Their children Oscar Lewis, Elizabeth Jane "Lizzie", Thomas Daniel "Tom", James Troy, Reva and Arthur Leonard "Buddy" were listed as living with them.16
Death*James died on 11 March 1925 in Laurens Co., Georgia, at age 68. Location per Find A Grave but not indicated on the headstone.7,9
Burial*He was buried at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Rentz, Laurens Co., Georgia. Headstone photo is available at Find A Grave.7,9
ResearchNote*Research Note of 22 July 2020 re JHW's children. James W Pritchett believed that James H had 20 children among his three wives. We have seventeen listed at present. This entire family needs a close look. We may have children with the wrong mothers. For instance, I have a note that says that Emma was the only child of Emma Johnson, yet I also have notes showing Mae, Emma, Georgia and Eula as being her children. Go figure.
1910 Census: James & Lula married 6 years. Therefore of the six children listed in that census, the ones older than 6 (Ida @ 16, Eula @ 14, Emma @ 8) were by the previous wife and the ones younger (Oscar @ 4, Lizzie @ 2, Georgia @ 1) should be Lula's. The 1910 lists James' parents as both having been born in GA.
1880 US: ditto James' parents birth states.

Sarah Elisabeth Daniel1,2

F, #3027, b. 14 September 1859, d. before May 1887
Last Edited22 Sep 2022
Birth*Sarah was born on 14 September 1859 in Laurens Co., Georgia, d/o Samuel Hankins Daniell & Elizabeth Gennett Swinson. Ancestry's James Wyatt Family Tree gives this date but provides no specific citation. The date sources cited are the 1860-1880 censuses which provide only circa years. She is living with her parents in 1860-1870 though their complete names as listed here are of course not given. It is unclear where Tree came up with them.2
Marriage*She married James Hardy Wyatt, son of Daniel Wyatt and Elizabeth Lnu, on 19 October 1876. In the 1880 their eldest child is 1 yo. Ancestry's James wyatt Family Tree provides this date without citation.2,3
Census1880*Sarah and James appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Dublin 342nd GMD, Laurens Co., Georgia, enumerated 22 June 1880, as 23 yo farmer J H & 20 yo wife Elisabeth Wyatt. Their children Mattie E. and Lelilar G. "Lila" were listed as living with them.2
Death*Sarah died before May 1887. Date is pure conjecture assuming JH did not divorce her but that she died prior to his 2nd marriage.4

MotherNancy A. Ryan4,2 b. c 1793, d. a 15 Jul 1870
Last Edited1 Apr 2023
Birth*James, son of James Johnson and Nancy A. Ryan, was born in 1826 in Wilkinson Co., Georgia. 1860 Census supports state only.1
Census1830James is probably the male under age 5 listed in the household of his father, James Johnson, in the 1830 Federal Census of Wilkinson Co., Georgia.5
Census1840James is probably the male age 10 to 14 listed in the household of his father, James Johnson, in the 1840 Federal Census of Dist. 352, Wilkinson Co., Georgia.6
Marriage*He married Amanda Ivey before 1849. Age of eldest child in 1860 Census supports date conclusion. Johnson claims one more child, Milton, b. 1876, but this doesn't jive with fact Amanda is single HOH in the 1870 census. Milton is still in the database but unattached from either parent.7
Census1860*James and Amanda appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of High Hill Dist., Wilkinson Co., Georgia, enumerated 29 June 1860, as 34 yo farmer J R & 28 yo Amanda M Johnson. Their children Sarah A., Jane R., James H., Isaac S. and Richard R. were listed as living with them. JR's mother Nancy's age of 53 yo is off by about 14 years but this person is almost certainly her.1
Death*James died between August 1869 and July 1870. Minnie was 0.1 yo in the 1870 census, suggesting May or June birth. Johnson claims a son Milton born in 1876. Only way that works is if JR & Amanda were divorced.8,9
