Howard is usually listed as a step-son but I find no prior marriage for Laura and the Farson surname would be unlikely unless she had married a cousin. In at least one record he's listed as adopted. My guess is he was the son of one of Laura's brothers.      Married 11 years in the 1900 census, 20 years in 1910.4,7
