Census1910*Emily appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Butts Road, Norfolk Co., Virginia, enumerated 15 April 1910, as 58 yo widowed farmer Emer Vandegrift. Her son James Doxey was listed as living with her, as well as 26 yo single daughter Dora Fisk. Jim's father (Frazier) born Maryland, Dora's father (currently unknown) born Virginia. I speculate Fisk was Emma's m1.3

Death*Emily died on 7 June 1913 in Northwest, Chesapeake, Virginia, at age 61, of breast cancer. Her death certificate gives death location as Norfolk (county, no such), Blitts Road (district), Northwest (town), Virginia.2,1 
Burial*She was buried at an unknown location. Find A Grave notes burial location unknown but likely Northwest, Chesapeake, Virginia. Northwest appears to be a community south of the city of Chesapeake, just south of the Northwest River and very close to the North Carolina border.1

Census1910*Sarah appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Rep. Dist. 11, New Castle Co., Delaware, enumerated 19 May 1910, as 70 yo widow Sarah Vandegrift. Her daughter Gertrude Sarah was listed as living with her, as well as Gertrude's 42 yo husband John and their sons 18 yo Norman L & 15 yo John R Butler. There was one hired man living with them.3 
Death*Sarah died on 12 January 1926 in Saint Georges, New Castle Co., Delaware, at age 86.2

Death*Anna died on 7 May 1954 in Wilmington, New Castle Co., Delaware, at age 89. Find A Grave claims Odessa but her obit says Wilmington.2,3

     My preliminary research suggests their children were Norman Leslie (1891-1964, m. Lora Allene Stafford 1914, res. Odessa 1954), Emma Vincent (1893-1895), John R Jr (1895-1960, m. Lucy M Johnson c1915, he was State Senator of Middletown 1954), Ernest Vandegrift (1904-1904) and Everett Frazier Butler (1904-1904).2,3

Marr-Divorce*Grace was divorced from Bert Dewey Downey at Nowata Co., Oklahoma, on 6 August 1922. The divorce decree is dated 06 February to become effective six months later. Eicher writes, "Daddy told me the story - that he found Grace 'in the arms of another man'...'and my blood ran cold.' He was crushed & didn't know what to do - but left town (since he wasn't wanted). Interestingly - I got the divorce record where she claimed abandonment. She was 16 yrs. Marie continues, "I also have a copy of a letter daddy wrote to Ruth telling this story. It was a sad story and he wanted each of us to make good marriage choices. He was always firm in telling us that both Ruth's mother (Louisa, who died when Ruth was born) and my mother (Dollie) were 'good, faithful women'".6,2 
Death*Grace died on 23 April 1979 in Nowata, Nowata Co., Oklahoma, at age 75.1

Elkanah F Flanary 1889 in MO), Leona B (1863-1935), Dora Donna Ina (1866-1913), John C (1868-1934), Sarah Agnes "Sally" (1872-1942), Edna A (1874- ), and Jeremiah P Edwards (1878-1901).1,3

Death*Sally likely died before 24 January 1740, based on not being mentioned in her brother Daniel's will of this date.2 
ResearchNote*Research Note of 26 September 2022 re possible marriage. Boyd claims Sally married Fnu Lovell but I can find no supporting evidence.3
