He also named another "second" son--George. However, no other reference is made to this so-called son and he may be assumed to be a son of a servant. There is evidence to support this theory in court cases following his death when his widow was involved in a case in which one of their servants had given birth to a son out of wedlock, but his name was not given".3,1

BioNote*	Biography Note of 26 July 2012: Leatherbury writes, "The first and only known ancestor of the Leatherbury family in America...Thomas Leatherbury was in Maryland by 1638 when he received 100 acres of land as head rights for transporting himself into the colony. He reassigned this property to Randall Revell, who was known to be a cooper. One might assume this land was payment for an apprenticeship as a cooper, since Thomas later became a cooper by trade. He had settled near Onancock, Accomack County, Virginia before 1645 and this property became his home property. He was also a planter or farmer, and by the time of his death in 1673, he was able to leave more than 3500 acres of land to be divided between his two sons Charles and Perry. In November of 1660, he and several other men, who included Ambrose Dixon, Henry Voss, Henry White and Levin Denwood, were taken to trial in Jamestown and convicted for breach of the law concerning Quakers. Leatherbury, Dixon and White were found guilty, but the court did not penalize them (see page 303, Torrence). Most of these men eventually moved out of the Colony of Virginia and into the Colony of Maryland, where they could more freely practice their religion." Much more in Leatherbury.3

They claim 4: Robert (1705-1725), Elizabeth (1690-?, m. Joseph Burton), Comfort (1696-?, m. Thomas Pettyman, which would make her her mother), and Sarah Burton (1702-?). Birth*	Charles, son of Perry Leatherbury and Comfort Bagwell, was born after 19 February 1690 in Accomack Co., Virginia Colony, New England. Under age 18 this date in his father's will. Leatherbury's date is ca. 1685. As expected considering the cloud of confusion around this family, Ancestry's entry on Charles is not much use. They give dates of 1692-1686 (sic), presumably meaning 1692-1786. They show him married to Comfort Bagwell, his mother. Not the first to mix up this family.1,3,4

Estate-Will*	Charles Leatherbury left a will dated 2 March 1721 at Accomack Co., Virginia Colony, New England, appointing his wife (unnamed!) sole executrix and an heir. He also named sons Thomas, John and Perry and daughters Elizabeth and Anne as heirs.      William F Leatherbury in Descendants of Roger Leatherbarrow (circa 1590-1634) claims the John in this will is the one who married Sarah Ballard. I believe it's the John who married Eleanor Jones but acknowledge this is a very difficult family to understand.5,6

Estate-Will	Comfort was named executrix and an heir in the will of Thomas Prettyman, her husband, dated 17 May 1719 at Sussex Co., Delaware.7
Marriage*	Her second marriage was to Thomas Walker before 16 September 1724 at New England. Leatherbury shows no issue from this marriage. Ancestry claims that Thomas died in 1731, so if you go with their story, this marriage needs to have happened before the one with Thomas Prettyman, and likely before the one with Robert Prettyman.8
Marriage*	Her third marriage was to Reese Wolfe before 3 August 1762 at Sussex Co., Pennsylvania Colony (now Delaware), New England. Leatherbury shows no issue from this marriage.9
Death*	Comfort died.9

In Eleanor's mother's will are mentioned Eleanor Leatherberry and sons Thomas, Benjamin & John. All three are brothers of Mrs. Thomas Leatherberry. (:TAB:)2) More excellent evidence is the Stephney parish record, 'Thomas son of John L & Eleanor his wife ...'. The dates line up well. (:TAB:)3) Richmond Pedigree. Hiram & his wife were supposedly professional genealogists. Why is there such a dearth of documentation for this pedigree? We should try & looksee a copy of this book to find if more citations are available and that we simply haven't copied them.2,1,5
