Four born with 4 living in the 1900 census, 4 born with 3 living in 1910. My preliminary research suggests their children were Richard A (1876-1948), Loren Hiram (1878-1902), Ada Virginia (1880-1976, m. William A Casteel c1905, he d. bef. 1910 census), and David John Strickler Jr. (1882-1962, m. Pearl Lnu, son Everett Strickler).1,3

The Enrollment record says the 35th Ohio Infantry, has no dates, and shows him to have been a volunteer and in 1899 a member of the GAR Post in Burden, KS. The NPS Civil War database has a unit history for the 45th Ohio Infantry.6,7,8

In the 1850 census John's mother Osee is living two doors away. Ancestry's Hoage tree makes an uncited claim that Joseph & Elizabeth were John's parents. His middle name alleged to be Collins..1,2

Birth*	Amos, son of Joseph Mulford and Elizabeth Downey, was born in September 1820 in Ohio. Primary sources tying Amos to alleged parents Joseph and Elizabeth have not been found by this researcher. However in the 1850 census Amos lives next door to his mother and sister Elizabeth. His middle initial likely S (Seborn?).3
Census1830	Amos is probably one of the three males age 5 to 9 listed in the household of his father, Joseph Mulford, in the 1830 Federal Census of Hamilton Twp., Warren Co., Ohio.4
Marriage*	He married Elizabeth Forsyth on 6 November 1842 in Shelby Co., Ohio. Married 57 years with 8 born & 3 living in the 1900 census. FSTrees claims a daughter Rebecca and there's a Find A Grave memorial for a woman of that name at Indian Creek (unk-1849). The memorial says 5Y 8M, D/O A&E MULFORD yet the gravestone says 'Wife' which surely is not the case for a 5 yo. Ancestry & FSTrees both allege a daughter Ossie (variations) Jane Mulford (1848-1849). There are Mortality Schedule entries for a child of this name but they don't tie into any particular parents.5,6

ResearchNote*	Research Note of 15 March 2021 re J David's parents. I've not found a source linking David to parents Joseph Mulford & Elizabeth Downey. David fits Joseph's 1840 census enumeration but without names it's inconclusive. He never shows in a naming census with his parents or any of his siblings.      Next there's the problem of whether our David married Mary Jane Keist or Mary Jane Hillhouse. FamilySearch (ID KLB6-BNB) claims Keist. Ancestry's Mulford-Armitage tree claims Hillhouse. There are marriage records for both - David & Hillhouse in August 1846 in Ripley, Indiana, with David & Keist in April 1847 in Logan, Ohio. The censuses all show his wife as Mary Jane so are no help at all on this issue. It's possible he married Hillhouse, she died immediately, then he married Keist within nine months but it's a stretch.      I believe Keist to be the mother of the children found in the censuses and at Find A Grave for the following reasons: a) The death record of Adam Mulford shows his parents as David Mulford & Jane Kzart (as indexed, no image available). b) The 1850 census has David & Mary Jane in Logan County, Ohio. That's where he & Keist were married. The Hillhouse marriage was in Ripley, Indiana. Far from conclusive but it's an interesting data point.

This enumeration is way off in showing both of David's parents being born in 'Ire' (Ireland?)9

Their children Elizabeth Jane, Henry J., Joseph, Morgan Peter and Julia Ann were listed as living with them. John's 61 yo mother Elizabeth lives two doors below with his sister Elizabeth Ann.5

Census1860	Henry appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Pratt, Salem Twp., Shelby Co., Ohio in the household of his parents, John C. Mulford and Osee Morgan, as 20 yo Henry Mulford.4
Milit-Service*	Henry J. Mulford served as a Private with Co. D, 54th Ohio Infantry during the Civil War between 1861 and 1864. Henry enlisted 10 Sep 1861 and mustered out at East Point, Georgia, on 19 Sep 1864.5,6,7,8,9
Marriage*	His first marriage was to Eliza McKinney on 30 November 1865 at Shelby Co., Ohio. My preliminary research suggests their only child was John E Mulford (1867- ). John shows up in the 1880 census as 13 yo yet he's missing in the 1870 census.10,11

Marriage*	His second marriage was to Elizabeth F. Stafford on 31 January 1872 at Montgomery Co., Iowa. My preliminary research suggests their children were Stella Miron (1872- , aka Marion & Marian, m. John S Cresse 1891), Claudia Maud (1874-1931), Charles Oakley (1876- , m. Alice Bedel 1896), Alta (1878- ), Nellie Blanche (1883-1913, m. Joseph Weidman 1902), and Walter R Mulford (1886- ). The Larson-Boileau Family Tree at Ancestry also shows Carrie E ( ), and Leah E Mulford ( ) but provides no evidence and they don't show in any censuses.13,14,15,2,16
Census1880*	Henry and Elizabeth appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Pierce Twp., Page Co., Iowa, enumerated 29 July 1880, as 41 yo farmer H J & 36 yo wife O Mulford. Their children 7 yo Stella, 13 yo Johny, 5 yo Claudia, 4 yo Oakley, and 2 yo Alta Mulford were listed as living with them. Elizabeth is almost certainly enumerated with the letter O based on how census take wrote Oakley's name. No explanation for this. There's no indication from other sources that Henry had a 3rd wife in between Eliza and Elizabeth.11

Their children 16 yo Edna B, 12 yo Allice V(?), and 6 yo Henry C were listed as living with them. Son Clyde is HOH at top of the next census page. His brother 24 yo Clem Coverston is living with him. Note the surname spelled correctly in this entry.9
ResearchNote*	Research Note of 4 February 2021 re 1910 census. I can't find Julia in the 1910 census. She is not the widow in Texas, Crawford, OH. She is not the widow in JP1, Milam, TX. In fact she's not a widow at all. In the 1910 census her husband George is living with their daughter Edna Blackburn and her family in Independence, Buchanan, IA.
Death*	Julia died on 21 January 1921 in Custer Co., South Dakota, at age 71. Find A Grave shows 23 Jan which I suspect is a burial date. The SD Death Index is more compelling.10,3

Census1920	Elizabeth appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Gravity, Taylor Co., Iowa, enumerated 8 January 1920, as 73 yo widow Elizabeth Mulford. Her 45 yo single daughter Claudie M Mulford was listed as living with her.11
