Leonard H Robbins), Jessie B (1867- ), and Louie Arvester Jones (1872- , m. William A DePew). The 1900 census confirms married 48 years. Elizabeth shows 7 born and 5 living.1,4,3

Census1880	Morgan and Rhoda appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Pierce Twp., Page Co., Iowa, enumerated 29 July 1880, as 35 yo farmer P & 36 yo wife Rhoda Mulford. Their 18 yo son Charles Soward (indexed Sours, really a step-son by Rhoda's m1 to Robert W Soward), and 2 yo daughter Malin Mulford were listed as living with them. Malin must be Peter & Rhoda's daughter Lulu Meta.13

ResearchNote*	Research Note of 5 March 2021 re Ethel & Athel Thompson. The 1880 makes it clear that Andrew & Louisa had daughter & son twins in January 1880. They were enumerated as female Ethel & male Athel. Find A Grave, the Larson-Boileau tree at Ancestry, and FSTrees have varying versions of their lives.      Find A Grave has memorials for Ethel Thompson Knapp (1880-1940, m. Fred D Knapp, had one child), and Ethel Basil Thompson Graham (1881-1975, m. James D Graham, no issue listed).      The Larson-Boileau Tree at Ancestry shows Ethel Thompson (1880-1940, m. Fred Dutcher Knapp, had one child), and Athel Thompson (1880-1919, no spouse or children shown).      FamilySearch Trees shows Ethel Thompson (1880-1940, m. Fred D Knapp, had three chidren), and Athel Thompson (1880-1919, ID LLHT-RRJ, no spouse, no issue).      The odd woman out here is Ethel Basil Thompson who m. James Graham. The Kelley III Family Treehouse tree at Ancestry shows EBT as daughter of Andrew & Louise. A quality source however is Texas, U.S., Death Certificates, 1903-1982 which records her lifespan as 1881-1975 and her parents as Billy Thompson & Molly Hayden. My conclusion is that Find A Grave and Kelley III Family Treehouse are incorrect and this woman is not the daughter of Andrew & Louise.      For followup on Athel Thompson try U.S., Army, Register of Enlistments, 1798-1914 which shows he enlisted on 26 Feb 1908, he was 28 yo, born Seymore, Texas, a farmer, and that he was discharged 01 Mar 1909 at Ft. Columbia, Washington. Other records show he died 01 Nov 1919 in San Diego.8

CensusLead*	The 1870 census listed a a 17 yo, who may be this person, as head of household at Pierce Twp., Page Co., Iowa. Emma Mulford.5
Marriage*	Her first marriage was to Charles Oliver "Charlie" Hurlburt on 8 November 1876 at Clarinda, Page Co., Iowa. My preliminary research suggests their children were Leon B (1877-1877), Leah D (1879-1879), Nellie Lena (1882-1932, b. IA, m. James Prentiss McCloy 1904), Jesse Charles (1888-1935, b. OR, m. Annette Lnu), and Mayrilla Blanche Hurlburt (1891-1961, b. OR, d. Los Angeles, m. Fnu Jackson). I was iffy about this marriage until daughter Nellie's death certificate was found. It shows her mother as Emma Mulford, born Shelby Co., Ohio, which is right on.6,7
Marriage*	Her second marriage was to Fnu Crane between 1891 and 1900, date based on Emma's m1 Hurlburt having died in 1891 and her being the widow Crane in the 1900 census.8,9

ResearchNote*	Research Note of 19 March 2021 re research challenges. I've found no direct marriage record though the circumstantial evidence is compelling. They're together with their two sons in 1900 and 1910. Then comes WWI. I believe the record from the Spokane newspaper showing Joseph severely wounded is this man even though the middle initial is wrong. Post-war we no longer find Joe & Hattie living together. She shows up in 1920 and 1930 as HOH but Joe goes missing. I'd like to discover what happened to him from the end of WWI until his death.

Valentine, was a direct descendant of all three founding Mulford brothers, being descended on his father's side from William Mulford, a founder of East Hampton, the Hamptons, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, and on his mother's side again from William and also from William's brothers, Judge John Mulford, founder of East Hampton, and Thomas Mulford of Virginia, sons of Sarah of Maidstone & Thomas Southcott Mulford of Massachusetts, the son of Thomas Molford & Susan Southcott of Cadbury, Devonshire, England. Grandfather Albert married twice and was the father of eleven children from his first marriage to Marilla Ellen Hollenhors, daughter of Mary Elizabeth Pelham (aka Pellem) of Freeport, Illinois & Henry Hollenhors from Prussia, brother of Frank and Joseph of Jerseyville, Jersey County, Illinois.1

Birth*	William, son of Russell Bigelow Mulford and Melissa B. Valentine, was born circa 1859 in Logan Co., Ohio. His m3 marriage record with Ida shows his parents as R B Mulford & Elizabeth Bonndland! Not sure what to make of that. Find A Grave claims Feb 1861 but that doesn't jive with him being 1 yo in the 1860 census.3,2,1

Marriage*	He married Mary Leanna Shorter in 1879. My preliminary research suggests their children were Charles (1881-1917), James Elmer (1884-1962, m. Mary Ellen Jones Rogers 1908 in OK), George E (1885- , m. Ruth M Altaffer 1916 in IA), Theo Blanche (1887-1971, m. John D Stewart 1906 in KS), Pearl Jane (1889-1977, m. Eli H Medlam 1907 in KS), and Walter Alva Mulford (1893- ).      My preliminary research suggests Ida May's children from her prior marriage were Grace E Spencer (1894-1984), and Ernest Clyde Spencer (1899- ).5,6,1

CensusNF1*	William and Mary appeared on the 1895 Kansas State census of Cowley Co., Kansas, enumerated 1895, as 35 yo William & 32 yo Mary Mulford.. Their children 13 yo Charles, 11 yo Elmer, 10 yo Geo, 7 yo Theo, 5 yo Jane, and 2 yo Walter A. Mulford were living with them.9
Marr-License*	William applied for a marriage license to wed America Lnu at Cowley Co., Kansas, in 1904.10
ResearchNote*	Research Note of 6 April 1904 re FamilySearch Trees claims. William's FSTrees entry (KLBX-388) claims he m2 America Saunders 06 Apr 1904 in Winfield, KS but provides no source and I've been unable to corroborate. His marriage record with Ida May does say it was his 3rd marriage.

Marriage*	His third marriage was to Ida May Colbert on 13 May 1907 at Red Oak, Montgomery Co., Iowa. This is the third marriage for William, second marriage for Ida. George Ackles, likely William's sister's m2, provided the affadavit. The 1910 census shows married 3 years with 8 born & 7 living.12,3,13

Milit-Service*	Nelson Tipton "Tip" Bloom served with Co. M, 11th Illinois Cavalry during the Civil War from 2 March 1865 to 30 September 1865.2
Marriage*	He married Sarah Jane Mulford, daughter of Russell Bigelow Mulford and Melissa B. Valentine, on 13 June 1867 in Mercer Co., Illinois. Sarah shows 11 born w/ 8 living in the 1910 census. I've entered the seven who have plausible sources. Three of the remaining four may have been Malissa, Joseph Harriet, and Sidney Bloom.3,4,5,2
Census1870*	Nelson and Sarah appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Swedona, Mercer Co., Illinois, enumerated 24 August 1870, as 24 yo printer Tip & 22 yo Sarah J. Bloom. Their children Charles J. Bigelow and William S. were listed as living with them.6
Census1880	Nelson and Sarah appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Union, Hardin Co., Iowa, enumerated 23 June 1880, as 40 yo painter Tip & 27 yo wife Sarah J. Bloom. Their children Charles J. Bigelow, William S., Morgan P. and Augusta were listed as living with them.7
Residence*	Nelson and Sarah resided in Silver Creek Twp., Cowley Co., Kansas, on 1 March 1885. Five children were listd as living with them though only three are obvous from their initials.8
Death*	Nelson died on 6 March 1925 in Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, at age 77.2
Burial*	He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Montgomery Co., Iowa.2

Find A Grave claims this marriage was after death of Sarah's first husband Tip on 06 Mar 1925. That does not jive with the 1900 census showing George Ackles, Sarah (as wife, married 6 years), and children Pearl & Blanche. Married 17 years in the 1910 census. George's first wife was Hulda Jane Willeford.3,4,2
