I find a William Lutjeharms (Find A Grave mem. no. 59685796), b. Germany, wife Barbara Elizabeth Metzger, bur. Harlan County. Abner is no father to either of these two.15

It's interesting that Carrie shows up in her son Claire's household in the 1940 as widowed. Perhaps there's another explanation.8,7
