Marriage*	She married Joel Helm, son of Eli Helm and Sophia Heistand, on 21 February 1878 in Crawford Co., Ohio. License date was 18 Feb. My preliminary research suggests their children were Monroe (c1876- ), Henry J (1880-1880) and Elsie M Helm (1886-1939, m. Cloyd D Shupp 1902).1

My preliminary research suggests their children were Melvin Kieffer (1875-1875), Marilla Rachel "Rilla" Shupp (adopted, 1877-1964, m1 Albert Auck 1895, m2 Guernie Frank Hancock 1921), Tasso E "Tassie" (1883- ) and Hettie G Kieffer (c1884- ).      The license date was 04 Nov. Part of the marriage record refers to Susanna as Susie, in another section as Louisa.3,2

Judging from the list of children in Find A Grave it appears that Dean had m1 Fnu Simmons ca 1876, then m2 Fnu Richards ca 1879, then finally m3 Kieffer in 1889.      My preliminary research suggests their children were Clyde Charles (1890-1955), Cleo Crystal (1890-1959) and Donna Fern Kieffer (1893-1949, m. Marriage*	He married Mary Heistand, daughter of Martin Heistand and Catherine Andereck, on 31 January 1841 in Crawford Co., Ohio. Leonard & Mary allegedly had one other child, Mariah Houseberg (1850-1851) but I've found no Find A Grave memorial or other supporting evidence.1,4,5

ResearchNote*	Research Note of 21 June 2023 re census analysis. The 1900 census has an enumeration for John & Mary Hoppes in Jay Co., Indiana. It has multiple issues which convince me this is not our Mary. One, the middle initial M for Mary. Two, they both show married 31 years which is way off. It's been 47 years since Mary's m1. Three, Mary's age is listed as 53 yo but should be closer to 64 yo. Four, Mary shows 5 born with 1 living but we know she had at least 6 children with her m1 Martin Heistand and that at least 3 of them were living in 1900.      I'd give up on the entire Hoppis-Alderfer marriage idea except for the fact that in her 1902 marriage record with Daniel Weaver she is named Mary Alldeffer Hoppis. There are six with surname Hoppis buried in Indiana at Find A Grave. No Johns.13,4,14
Census1900	Mary appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Knox Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, enumerated 18 June 1900, as 62 yo widow farmer Mary Hopps. Mary shows born Aug 1837 which closely matches other sources. She lists 7 born with 4 living. That works with my current list of 6 born with 4 living.15
Marriage*	Her second marriage was to Daniel Weaver on 2 September 1902 at Indiana.13
Census1910	Mary appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Richland Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, as 74 widowed mother Mary Weaver in the household of her son & daughter-in-law Isaiah F. Heistand and Laura M. Creger; as 53 yo farmer Isaiah F & 50 yo wife Laura M Heistand.16
Death*	Mary died on 14 April 1915 in Redkey, Jay Co., Indiana. The Indiana, U.S., Death Certificates, 1899-2017 record wouldn't be too compelling except for the informant being Isaiah L Heistand. Mary had a brother of that name.2,4
Burial*	She was buried at Union Church Cemetery in Upper Sandusky, Wyandot Co., Ohio. Find A Grave provides joint headstone photo with husband Martin.4

Census1870	Delilah appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Eden Twp., Wyandot Co., Ohio in the household of her parents, Martin Heistand and Mary Alderfer, as 15 yo Delilah Heistand.3
Marriage*	She married William H. Spencer on 1 January 1874 in Wyandot Co., Ohio. My preliminary research suggests their children were Harvey Elsworth (1875-1954, m. Minnesota Abigail "Minne" Walker 1899 IN, res. Redkey 1929) and William Howard Spencer (1882-1959, m. Lola Clementine Alexander 1905 IN, res. Knox Twp 1929).      The Ancestry & FamilySearch images of the marriage record are identical. In the scan a piece of paper was placed over William & Delilah's entry and only the far left margin can be read. Fortunately the information on the page was indexed before the scan and my values are from the index, not from having actually read the handwritten entry.4,5,2
Census1880*	Delilah and William appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Crane Twp., Wyandot Co., Ohio, enumerated 5 June 1880, as 41 yo farmer Wm H & 25 yo wife Delilah Spencer. Their 5 yo son Harvey E Spencer was listed as living with them, as well as two of William's brothers, 28 yo John C and 23 yo Scott Spencer.6
Census1900	Delilah and William appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Knox Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, enumerated 11 June 1900, as 61 yo farmer William & 45 yo wife Delilah Spencer. Their 18 yo son Howard W Spencer was listed as living with them.7
Census1910	Delilah and William appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Knox Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, enumerated 20 April 1910, as 71 yo retired farmer William & (no age shown) yo wife Delilah Spencer. Their son Harvey E and his wife Minnie A Spencer live next door below.8
Census1920	Delilah and William appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Knox Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, enumerated 2 January 1920, as 81 yo poultry farmer William & 68 yo wife Delilah Spencer. Their son Harvey E and his wife Minnie Spencer live next door above.9
Death*	Delilah died on 18 January 1929 at her home 7 miles north of Redkey in Knox Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, at age 74, of paralysis due to cerebral hemorrhage. Her son Howard was informant on her death certificate. He didn't know his maternal grandparents' names!.10,11,2
Burial*	She was buried on 21 January 1929 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, Jay Co., Indiana. Find A Grave provides joint headstone photo with husband William.11,2

Julia Whittern 1914 OH, informant on his father's death certificate 1939) and Emery Heistand (c1902-b1955, deceased before his mother).7,8,4
Census1900	Isaiah and Laura appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Greene Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, enumerated 25 June 1900, as 43 yo farmer Esah & 40 yo wife Laury M Heston. Their children 18 yo Cora, 14 yo William J, 12 yo Finley and 8 yo son Elsy Heston were listed as living with them.9
Census1910*	Isaiah and Laura appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Richland Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, enumerated 28 April 1910, as 53 yo farmer Isaiah F & 50 yo wife Laura M Heistand. Their children 22 yo Finley V, 17 yo Elza and 8 yo Emery Heistand were listed as living with them, as well as Isaiah's 74 yo widowed mother Mary Weaver.10
Death	Isaiah F. Heistand was the informant on her father Mary Alderfer's death certificate on 14 April 1915.11,12
Census1920	Isaiah and Laura appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Richland Twp., Jay Co., Indiana, enumerated 7 January 1920, as 63 yo farmer I F & 60 yo wife Lorru Hudlend(?). Their sons 18 yo Emery and 32 yo Finley were listed as living with them. The handwriting on this enumeration is pathetic.13
Census1930	Isaiah and Laura appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Redkey, Jay Co., Indiana, enumerated 2 April 1930, as 73 yo Isaih F & 70 yo wife Laury Heistand.14
Death*	Isaiah died on 12 February 1939 in Redkey, Jay Co., Indiana, at age 82, of organic heart disease. Isaiah's son Elza was informant on his death certificate.1,4

Census1870	Amanda appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Eden Twp., Wyandot Co., Ohio in the household of her parents, Martin Heistand and Mary Alderfer, as 7 yo Amanda Heistand.1
Marriage*	She married George Ridgway on 16 December 1892 in Jay Co., Indiana. George & Amanda apparently had only one child, Russell Ridgway (1897-1987). Russell m. Ruby Smith 1922 in Indiana. Their children were Helen, Jackie L, Robert J, James Wm, David & Diane. Russell & Ruby are in the 1930, '40 and '50 censuses. I haven't found Russell in the 1900, '10 or '20 censuses yet.      In 1901 George m2 Hattie L Briscoe. My preliminary research suggests their children were Cora (1903-1903) and Jessie Marie Ridgway (1906-1906). Hattie, Cora and Jessie all have Find A Grave memorials. It's odd that George & Hattie are not together in the 1910 census. In that one George is living with his parents Joel & Jane and marked widowed. George's Find A Grave memorial contradicts widowed and says they were divorced and that Hattie was 34 yo and living in Michigan.      George apparently m2 Mary Lnu between the 1910 and 1920 censuses, presumably after Hattie's death in 1912. George & Mary are in the 1920 & 1940 censuses in Knox, Jay, Indiana.2,3
ResearchNote*	Research Note of 23 June 2023 re FS Trees. ID 93Z4-J7P claims Amanda died in 1897 without citation. That leaves 5 years between her marriage and death. Son Russell was born ca. 1897 based on his ages of 33, 45 and 53 yo in the 1930 - 1950 censuses.

Toledo, OH 1939 & 1950), Carl V (1886-1961, m. Helen M Christman, res. Upper Sandusky, OH 1939, res. Bucyrus 1950) and Forba R Miller (1888-1946, res. Bucyrus 1939).3,5

Their 23 yo son Carl Miller was listed as living with them, as well as 72 yo widower lodger Jacob Miller (presumably Andrew's father.)7

Census1880	Johanna appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Eden Twp., Wyandot Co., Ohio in the household of her mother, Mary Alderfer, as 10 yo Joanah Heistand.2
Marriage*	Her first marriage was to Fnu Rindely before 14 July 1907. This marriage confirmed by Johanna's quality third marriage record in which she is called Johanna Rindley. I've found no information on Rindley. He may have died or perhaps he and Johanna divorced.3
Marriage*	Her second marriage was to Clement D. Atkins on 14 July 1907 at Windsor, Essex, Ontario, Canada. Of Johanna's three marriages this is the only one with a clear confirmation she's the correct person.3
CensusLead*	A person who might be Johanna appeared on the 1910 census in Clement D Atkins at Cheyenne, Laramie Co., Wyoming, His wife is 38 yo Joanna Atkins. They show married 6 years (should be 2). Joanna lists this as her m2 suggesting the woman who married Thomas J Frickle was someone else. Joanna does show correct birthstate of OH, though both her parents are listed as PA rather than OH.4

ResearchNote*	Research Note of 21 June 2023 re Find A Grave. Our John Hoppis is decidedly not the John Henry Hoppes with Find A Grave memorial no. 19921523. That John married Mary Mitchell Hollowell. That John's wife in the 1900 census is Mary M and everything about the enumeration says not our guy. See the ResearchNote attached to Mary Alderfer dated 21 Jun 2023 for additional discussion of the issues found while trying to sort out Mary's life.4
