Marriage*

He married Martha A. Blair, daughter of Ralph A. Blair and Asenath McFadden, on 13 October 1851 in Rutherford Co., Tennessee. The Blair Genealogy website claims Martha married John Ballentine but makes no mention of James Lee. There is a record in TN County Marriages but the date is 10 May 1843. Martha is clearly living with her parents in both the 1840 and 1850 censuses so this makes little sense. Also, she'd be in the neighborhood of only 14 years old in 1843. Unlikely.2,1,3

Fnu Hunter), Columbus Lilliard (1874-1946, m. Frances Gail Chapman 1897), James David (1875-1965, m. Myrtle Cooper), Elmer Francis (1883-1962, m. Sarah V Devlin ca. 1929 in Sebastian, AR), and Floyd Brittain (). The 1910 census confirms married 38 years with 5 born and 5 living. One marriage record lists her as Mrs. E F Lyon, another as simply E F Lyon. The 1910 census shows 'm2' for James, which is correct, but 'm1' for Elizabeth. I'm currently uncertain whether her maiden surname was Lyon or Lnu.8,9,10

My preliminary research suggests their children were William Thomas (1860-1926, m. Martha Josephine Pitts c1886 in TN), Joseph Henry (1861-1937), George Washington (1864-1924, m. Mattie Love Matthews 1890 in TN), and Ida Augusta Blair (1880-1968, m. Archie Linden Pickett c1906). Martha's 1900 census entry confirms 4 born & 4 living.1

My preliminary research, based on census data only, suggests their children were Hugh L W (c1844- ), Jas K (c1846- ), Jno H (c1847- ), Narcissa F (c1849- ), and Ann E Ballentine (c1856- ).1

Her brother Charles Smith Booker's WWII Draft Registration of 1942 lists her as the 'person who will always know your address' as 'Mrs. Mollie Booker Jackson, Dry Fork, VA'.1,2
