MotherElizabeth Andereck2,1 b. fr 17 May 1845 - 17 May 1846, d. 13 Jan 1902
Last Edited19 Mar 2024
Birth*Rosella, daughter of David Horn and Elizabeth Andereck, was born on 24 June 1874 in Warsaw, Kosciusko Co., Indiana.3,4
Census1880Rosella appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Harrison Twp., Kosciusko Co., Indiana in the household of her mother, Elizabeth Andereck, as 6 yo daughter Rosella Horn.5
Marriage*Her first marriage was to Lawrence "Buck" Baker on 4 May 1895 at Indiana.6,4
Census1900*Rosella and Lawrence appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Warsaw, Kosciusko Co., Indiana, enumerated 28 June 1900, as 32 yo railroad clerk Lawrence & 25 yo wife Rose Baker. 60 yo widow Sarah Black was listed as living with them as mother-in-law. This is a bit confounding as the only given name I'm aware of for Rose's mother is Elizabeth. Her mother was born between 1845-6 in Indiana but this Sarah is listed as 60 yo and born in Ohio. There's no indication that Rose's father David had a wife surname Black prior to his marriage to Elizabeth Andereck.7
Marr-Divorce*Rosella was divorced from Lawrence "Buck" Baker from 28 June 1900 to 19 August 1903.7,8
Marriage*Her second marriage was to Augustus "Gus" Barbel on 19 August 1903 at St. Joseph, Berrien Co., Michigan.8,4
Census1910*Rosella and Augustus appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Aurora, Kane Co., Illinois, enumerated 15 April 1910, as 35 yo saloon bar tender Gustave & 36 yo wife Rose Barbel. One boarder was listed as living with them.9
Census1920*Rosella appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Aurora, Kane Co., Illinois, enumerated 5 January 1920, as 45 yo widow Rose Barbel. Two boarders were listed as living with her.10
Census1930Rosella appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Aurora, Kane Co., Illinois, enumerated 10 April 1930, as 55 yo widow Rose Barbel. One roomer was listed as living with her.11
Death*Rosella died on 6 May 1942 in Aurora, Kane Co., Illinois, at age 67.3,4
Burial*She was buried on 9 May 1942 at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Aurora, Kane Co., Illinois. Find A Grave provides joint headstone photo with three currently unknown persons, as well as a portrait photo.3,4

Ephraim Witcher1

M, #3172, b. by 1752, d. between 1819 and 1820
FatherJames Witcher2
Last Edited29 Oct 2022
Birth*Ephraim, son of James Witcher, was born by 1752. The James-Ephraim father-son a bit iffy.2
MoveEphraim likely moved his residence from his father's home in Bedford County to Pittyslvania County circa 1773.2
TaxList*Ephraim Witcher appeared on a Pittsylvania County tax list, enumerated in 1773.2
Marriage*He married Elizabeth "Betsey" Fips before December 1778. Witcher Family writes they had at least thirteen, possibly fourteen, children. Four girls and ten boys.
Witcher writes, "Another interesting fact is that two of Ephraim Witcher's children (James and John) married two of William Witcher's grandchildren (Tempy and Polly Witcher). These marriages would seem more logical, and socially acceptable, if they had married their second cousins".2
Move*Ephraim moved his residence from Pittsylvania County to Montgomery County, Virginia circa 1782, joined by his probable brothers James and Daniel.2
Estate-Will*Ephraim Witcher left a will dated 18 November 1819 at Surry Co., North Carolina, appointing his friends Stephen Potter and Lacy Witcher (not the son Lacy) as executors. Named heirs were his wife Betsey and children Elziabeth "Betsey", Nancy Ann, William J., Lacy and Benjamin.2
Death*Ephraim died between 1819 and 1820 in Surry Co., North Carolina.2
