Birth*Neeltje, daughter of Lt Col. Christian Corssen and Annetje Gerritsze Kroesen, was born circa 1708. Date wagged to establish sibling birth order.1
Marriage*She married Frans Gerbrants before 26 May 1727, date based on baptismal date of eldest child listed by Corson. My preliminary research suggests their children were Elizabeth, Antje, France, Daniel (b1673- ), Nailtje and Christian Gebrantz (b1673- ). Those baptised in the Dutch Church of Staten Island, were Elizabeth (bap. 1727), Antje (bap. 1730), France (bap. 1743), Daniel (bap. 1756) and Nailtje (n.d.) Gerbrants. Son Christian is mentioned in his grandfather's will (Corson, p. 84), but not listed under Neeltje's family on p. 92.2,1
Estate-WillNeeltje was named an heir in the will of Lt Col. Christian Corssen, her father, dated 5 February 1762 at Richmond Co., New York, New England, receiving two lots of forty acres each at Northside, Richmond County. After her death the lands went to her two sons Christian and Daniel.3

Baptism*Neeltje was baptized in 1715. King lists a daughter Neeltje of Hendrick and Cornelia. Hendrick's will mentions a daughter Vieltie. I suspect a transcription error as I don't find Vieltie as a Dutch name. Perhaps a family nickname. Regardless of the explanation I assume Neeltje and Vieltie are the same person.1

Last Edited13 Oct 2022

Marriage*She married Cornelius Corssen Sr., son of Benjamin Jacob Corssen Sr. and Blandina Viele, on 6 August 1735. Their eight children, all baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of South and Northampton, aka Presbyterian Church of Churchville were Christian (bap. 1736), Blandina (bap. 1737), Willemyntje (bap. 1740), Marytje (bap. 1742), Jamite (bap. 1744), Antje (bap. 1746), Benjamin (bap. 1749) and Cornelius (bap. 1751) Corsen.3,4,1
Death*Antje died on 8 August 1753 at age 37. Date per Find A Grave without source citation. Christening*Leah was christened on 11 February 1680. Her name is a bit confused. There's a NY christening record for Dina Jacob in 1680 and it's cited here. But King calls the daughter Leah who was baptized (or christened, depending on which record you believe) in 1680. Then you've got FSTrees (entry for Leah Dina Groesbeck (1680–1715), ID no. LC7L-NQ4) which calls her Leah Dina. Unless there were twins in 1680 with only one christened it seems they are the same person. Her marriage record to Van Sandt lists her as Leah.2,1
Marriage*She married Johannes Van Sandt on 17 December 1702 at First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Colony, New England. In addition to the children I've included in TMG, FSTrees (entry for Leah Dina Groesbeck (1680–1715), ID no. LC7L-NQ4) lists Elizabeth (c1705- ), Ann (c1705- ), Jacobus (c1708- ), Cornelia (c1713- ) and Garret (c1713- ) Van Sandt. King says the child christened in 1705 was a boy - not exactly a good fit for an Elizabeth or Ann. FSTrees's year for their Rachel is 1711, not 1704 as per King.3,1

Marriage*He married Rachel Groesbeck, daughter of Jacob Claessen Groesbeck and Annetje Jacobse "Anne" Vandegrift, on 8 November 1704 at First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Colony, New England. Biddle lists three children - Thomas, Sara and Rachel. Thomas married Mary Antrim in 1728 and had issue Sarah, Thomas and Rachel. These folks seem to have had a really small pool of names to work with. For now I'm assuming Thomas (per Biddle) and James (per PA Births) are the same person. PA Births & Christenings shows three children - Raeghel, Sara and James all christened in 1710, one in May and two in August. That's odd to say the least.2,3,4,1,5

Last Edited22 Sep 2022
Birth*Lydia was born in 1720. FSTrees (entry for Leonard Vandergrift (1718-1769), ID no. LV4N-T3W) lists her only as Lydia Susan without parents, so whether Susan is her middle name or surname is unclear.
Marriage*She married Leonard Vandegrift, son of Jacob Vandegrift Sr. and Sarah Lnu, circa 1744. The six children shown are in King's list and were named in Leonard's will. FSTrees (entry for Leonard Vandergrift (1718-1769), ID no. LV4N-T3W) claims an additional three children, namely Jacob Sr (1740-1769, possible but unlikely),
Sampson ( -1815, unlikely since he wasn't mentioned in his father's will) and Ebenezer (1745-1853, deceased prior to his father's will).2
