Occupation*	John was indentured as an apprentice to learn 'the art and mystery of Husbandry' on 15 August 1783 at Truro, Colchester Co., Nova Scotia, Canada. His master and mistress were William and Dolly Putnam. The indenture was for a period of 14 years 8 months.3
Marriage*	He married Mary Whedden in July 1813. Issue per Onslow Records include James (1813- ), Abigal (1816- ), Elizabeth (1817- ), Samuel Whedden (1819- ), and Alden Bartlet (1821- ). There is no mention of John.4
Estate-Will*	John Bartlett left a will dated 14 July 1837 at Onslow, Colchester Co., Nova Scotia, naming Dan W Bentley & Samuel McCabe his executors. Named heirs included his wife Mary, sons James, Samuel, Aulden, John and Ebenezer, daughters Abigail and Elizabth Bartlett.      I have a typed transcript of this will but have been unable to find it online, though working through hundreds of pages in FamilySearch's Nova Scotia Probate Records, 1760-1993 database would probably do the trick.1
Death*	John died before 11 August 1837. Probate was started this date. Dewis has documents listing his asssets and belongings.5

Census1850*	Elizabeth and Middleton appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Dist. 18, Greenbrier Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), enumerated 18 July 1850, as 55 yo laborer Middleton & 46 yo Elizabeth Mead. Their children James Middleton, Mary A., Rachel, Martha Elizabeth, Meredith and Lucy W. were listed as living with them. This census adds Mary A. and Meredith to the list of issue provided by Find A Grave.8
Death*	Elizabeth died on 17 April 1854 in Monroe Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), at age 50. West Virginia didn't become a state until 1863.1

He's bracketed in the 15-20 slot in the 1830 census suggesting a birthyear range of 1810-1815. The 1820 census suggests 1810-1820. I'm going with 1810-1815 for now.1,2
